Qantas Status Credit Question

Are you able to change your anniversary date? Mine is currently 31st January. I tend to fly more at the end and start of a year - so this is the worst possible time for having an anniversary.

Agree, and it also allows for cyclical flying patterns in a 12 month period to be captured. I have previously done a lot of flying at the start of my membership year, retained my level and then in the new membership year been forced to wait until the latter part of the year to get enough flights up to requalify. Qantas suits me in this regard.

And the fact that the earlier you qualify/re-qualify in your membership year, the longer you have to enjoy the benefits of the status you reach, is also a pretty good outcome.

It is only changed if you're given partner gold to my knowledge. Honestly it shouldn't matter when it is, nor should static or rolling anniversary matter. You're either using their service enough every 12 months or not. Understandably, at first you want to get there asap, but it shouldn't be an ongoing problem. Personally, SC is something I don't even bother looking at.

Arguably not flying for most of your year could make you a bigger target for bonuses if you appear well short nearing its end.

The only way you can change it is to have someone gifts you Partner Gold. Your date will change to that of the gifted.

Not exactly True.

If anniversary is January 2013... If for example I make 2 return flights In December, two in January and then 4 in February.

I've just flown 8 return flights in 3 months (16 legs) and probably earnt enough SC for gold, if not silver at the very least.

With the system in place, I would most likely be Bronze come end of Feb. If my anniversary date was in July, I would be Silver/Gold.

Anyway - I'll move on: )

That may be the case for the 1st year if your anniversary occurs in the middle of your peak flying periods. But assuming you maintain a consistent flying pattern, then it doesn't really matter after this point.

Using your example, it means you would accumulate some of your SCs early in membership year, then you will have a long period without flying, then will make up the remaining flights in the last few months.

In fact, as Joshua has mentioned, if this is your typical pattern, you may find yourself the target of a DSC offer as you approach your anniversary date and as such you may even find yourself qualifying for higher status.

Again - true AFFers know the benefits of each program and work this to their advantage.
