Hi

Would someone be kind enough to show me how to link to an AFF thread where upon clicking, viewers would be sent to a specific post and not just at the beginning of the page ?

I had seen it linked that way but have no clue how to do it.

Regards

If you quote a post, the link is there, otherwise just get the link from clicking on the post number.

if you quote a post, the link is there!
Either that or "Right Click" on the post # at the top right of the post you want to link directly to:

copylink.JPG

Then select (on window pc's):

"Copy Link Location" (Firefox),
"Copy Link Address" (Chrome) or
"Copy Shortcut" (IE).

The you can simply paste the link into the post where you like.

Linking posts and multi-quoting posts is super simple.

Attaching photos to posts is almost impossible. :(

Saw that you commented on my post 'day of blues' with the photo of Kurtley Beale.

I uploaded that photo to my account at imgur.com, copied the 'forum' code and pasted it to my AFF post.

Under 2-3 min, JohnK

Not 'impossible'

PM me if you are stuck

....So I need to upload to a third party website and then copy to AFF?

Yes, that's correct.

I use imgur.com for that purpose

You copy / paste the 'code' [not the photos] specifically for forums / message boards after you upload the photos.

Each photo carries a unique code.

AFF then displays the photos as per the embedded codes.

Its simple enough to add photos inline. Not near my laptop web browser but the option is there. There are size restrictions though.

True, AFF has an inbuilt photo function but I found it a little restrictive.

I could not add comments to a specific photo, for example.

They just list the photos whereas with an imgur.com code, I could place the photos anywhere with/without a comment.

Sure, one day YouTube or Yahoo! Mail may be no more (tongue in cheek as imgur.com is not in the same league, but you get my drift).

This is not the case.

If you have a URL link to a photo, just put it between
tags.

Also, rather than embed large images directly into the post, I use smaller image sizes from which the larger images can be loaded if desired simply by clicking on them.

To do this I use a "Thumbnail" as centred image, with embedded links to larger versions.

Syntax:

PHP:
<new line>
<Image Title/Desc>

e.g.
PHP:

2007 ZQN Do
Sunday Morning

Shows as this:

Click on the thumbnail/title to get a larger one, click on the resulting image to get the main one.

e.g.

I was referring to your own photos from your own folders, not a photo on the web with an URL

Eg a photo of the seat map

Still straight forward.

Set up your text, then locate in the text where you want the image.

 • Click on the View attachment 16682 ("Insert Image") Icon and the "Insert Image" pop up appears.
 • Ensure "From Computer" tab is selected (click it).
 • Click the [Browse ...] Button to open the "File Upload" window.
 • Locate and select your file, click the [Open] button.
 • Click "Upload File(s)"

Your file should upload and will float with your text.

Let's give this a try

Photo #1

(EK side bins in J)

OK, I got it.

I must have mislocated the cursor on previous occasions - plus, I used "Manage Attachments" instead of INSERT IMAGES.

This is simpler than my roundabout method.

Thanks

See how this one goes!

Not that hard was it? Although the image displayed is full size.
