Do these flights have lay flat beds?.

SYD/PER QF571 - PER/SYD QF568

Any particular seat better than others?.

Since the demise of the 747 on transcon services, you are not guaranteed a skybed unless you are on a 333. Keep in mind what may start out as a 333 may swap to a 332, which you have more chance of ending up on a recliner then a bed

So this is how QF treats its SYD/PER customers.
It's any transcon service...

I honestly think a bed is really only needed for the red eye flights, but saying that the current recaro product on the newer 332's isn't quite up to scratch.

VA has its own lottery!

Yes they do, but I'd rather have that lottery (they both have similar pitch) over the QF lottery
(Keep in mind I forgot about the late 737 Subs:-))

Limewood the red eye idea is strictly suited to the "under 35s" if you don't get an A333. We do that run PER-SYD quite often and a day flight on QF in J works fine. Going from Perth you can get to Sydney in about 3 hours so it is not a problem heading east with a tailwind.

I just booked QF anyway in J see how it pans out.

Be in Freo 3 days not been there before.

Ps. Doing a double status run.

And that's the problem. Even with a bed, there isn't enough time to get a decent sleep....

Well here we are in Perth thinking a run to Cairns might work for Mrscove before her DSC expires this month.
Fremantle and Perth are pretty cool today but the sun is shining and the sky is blue.

With even more options to 'lose'. Old A330 config on XFA/B as well as now only 2 a day A330's MEL-PER-MEL (737's are back as they've moved a/c to the BNE route).

IMHO it's poor form of VA to push the 'all A330' from MEL line when now it's anything but.

When the headwind is about 200 kmh I am quite happy to board a QF 767 as you have a plane with enough grunt to get to Perth in 4 hours 30 minutes in most cases. This month those headwinds are pretty strong.

I'm heading back to CNS have business reason for taking the red eye return. I'm no under 35'r but can handle it as have done JQ to HNL in what they call J.

I could leave my Apartment & Merc. keys at CNS desk for you if it suits, bar is fully stocked up too :).

Ahh Freo, such a great place. Simple train ride from Perth and worth it. Only been there a handful of times but every time I've enjoyed myself to the fullest. Freo wharf on a sunny sunday arvo = win.

Clearly you are made of tough stuff Limewood. That explains why the plane running the red eye to return big bird to Sydney sells an amazing number of seats on every minight flight.

I have done the red eye from PER once in J on a 767 and it took me three days to recover  :!:
I vowed never to do it again.
That plan didn't work out though as I'm repeating my stupidity next weekend on VA with my fingers crossed for a nice A330
