Jump to the front of the queue for the new Qantas Card

But why join a queue voluntarily? I think one of the main reasons I maintain status is so I don't have to join queues. Bad marketing. Instead they should say "avoid the queue" and then every FF would sign up.

I still haven't received my email. However, given my location, they probably figured out that it's pointless for me anyway.

If I get this right, they want us to take up the offer 6 months ahead without knowing what any withdrawal fee from a teller machine will be plus no info on their commission on exchange rates, I mean really. So what is the rush and what real benefits does it give by taking it up now? none is my best guess. I have the offer but no thanks.

Even a CL who gets to the gate mid way through boarding will invariably find a queue in the PB lane that they can't avoid, thus, there's always a queue. But "avoid the queue" does sound better.

I think it's only a process to get the card to you first, you still need to activate it when you receive it, and if you don't want to activate it, they can't force you. But you do get a new card to flash around ;)

I tend to agree with samh004.

If you get the card and don't like the fees, exchange rates etc. Just use it as your frequent flyer card.

It's no biggie. One would expect nothing else will change really.

That's exactly how I'm seeing it BossReggie - anything extra may be a bonus... or not. AFAIK Qantas are giving nothing away at the moment regarding fees etc, and I doubt the new QFF cards will be "better" than your average Qantas affiliated Amex or Visa - otherwise there would be some awkward conversations between them (the banks and the airline).

I do like the analogy to domestic PB, perhaps they'll issue bronze cards first, followed by silver... ;)

Well given I swear I never got a FF card I, lowly bronze, registered just so I can use it to check in for flights. Pretty sure I'll never use it as a cash card (GE 28 deg for that), but thanks for finally gettting around to giving me a QF FF card.

Well Mrs B and I (who are both WP) are yet to receive the email, so not sure how or if they are targeting certain people. Then again we are in no rush to sign up as like others I can't imagine the fees would really work in our favour compared to our current CC's.

Anybody have any answers/thoughts on this ?

As no figures have been released, no one knows.

I'm optimistic that they'll offer a great rate, which will force the banks to up their rates to compete, and thus they need to buy more points, and everyone wins, well, except for the banks. Though who knows what contracts they've signed with the banks stopping them doing this ;)

And by rates I mean how many points per dollar.

Except other cards of this type do have account maintenance fees. So if not happy with the fees then you may need to get them to switch off the account. Too much potential hassle for something that I'm highly unlikely to use.

One would hope those signing up would not be be sent ongoing promo blurb from MC too.

Cheers for the response, it's much appreciated. I might just register. Nothing to lose I suppose.
