Are they collecting these after the flight?

Gosh I hope not.

I've had them a few times now. They aren't collected.

(and I haven't used them either, I much prefer my Bose QC3s )

They don't collect them. Nothing to write home about - they're simplistic mono audio ear buds.

And you can't hear a thing through them.

Actually I take that back, you can hear everything except the iPad.
Well I couldn't anyway.

They're dreadful. Didn't fit in my ears, kept falling out, uncomfortable and poor sound quality.
Couldn't fault them otherwise.:-|

Good news! Qantas have developed a new headset with better audio quality which will be compatible with all current inflight entertainment systems across our network. They will replace the existing headsets used in Economy cabins, including the ones for Q Streaming. The new headsets are currently in production and will be available progressively over the coming months. Looking forward to your feedback when they’re introduced. :)

They really are, I could barely hear anything out of them, luckily had my own with me

agree: worse than useless: can't hear anything intelligible: gace up on using the ipad.

I do hope the new headsets are better and not just another QF-style "enhancement"

I guess that's a tacit acknowledgement the bud ones are hopeless.

Are the new ones "disposable" like the buds, or "recyclable" like the twin prong ones?

I never have much success with airline headphones - the bud style do not stay in my ears (and I have to remove my hearing aids to wear them) and I can't get the older ones to fit over the ears snugly as even when I have adjusted them to the shortest I can, they are still too long and slide down. The international J ones are better but no hope of them on domestic. :)

Qc3 ftw! I got SWMBO a qc15 but I find the QC3 better sound quality.
