I'm sure this must have been asked already but I've trawled and can't find anything in the searches ....

I've read the DJ web site and it seems that lounge _members_ can bring along a guest, who doesn't need to be travelling. I'm not a lounge member, and I have no DJ status, but I am flying J domestic with them later this month .... can I bring along a non flying guest to the lounge?

I believed the answer is no - this is by omission as guest access is not mentioned in the fare rules.

LOUNGE ENTRY: This fare includes access to the Virgin Australia lounge prior to your flight. Entry to the lounge is subject to the Virgin Australia lounge Terms and Conditions and lounge Rules, as amended from time to time and available at Virgin Australia lounge | Virgin Australia

However, this page may indicate to the affirmative: (International Lounge Access | Virgin Australia)

The only issue is the banner relates to International travel, but the footnote relates to Domestic travel!

Virgin Australia lounges only exist for domestic travel. The table indicates that only the business class guest has access, not that they can bring an additional guest in.

Of course!

So, no guests ...

The "Yes + guest" on Alaska did make me think that 'no' was the likely answer for DJ's lounge, else they'd have mentioned the +guest.

I might ring them though, seems more likely that a guest _would_ be allowed as has commonly been the case in Aus for different carriers over time for Business tickets.

Does anyone know the latest on this? MrsDeKa and I fly on the weekend. She becomes Gold on Friday .. but it may not show by Sunday. We are however travelling Virgin Business Class (domestic).
We would like to guest two people who are non-status and travelling on the same flight in economy. Can MrsDeKa guest someone as a result of her being in Business Class?
The policy here is not clear: International Lounge Access | Virgin Australia (only referring to velocity status)

I think you used to be able to have 1 guest for a busines ticket, but not any more.

That said, if the lounge isn't crowded, there is a good chance they may get in. Also, the lounge should be able to see 'gold' status as soon at it shows in the Velocity website, so by Sunday it should be there.

My advice is to send an email to the.lounge at virginaustralia.com. I have always found them to be quite prompt in replying to questions.

Cheers
Dave.

If it's MEL I reckon they'll let you - the staff there are excellent.

As a side note Im surprised J cannot bring any guests in whereas WPs can bring in 3. I would have thought J guests would be more valuable than WP because they are higher yielding that someone who does the weekly MEL-SYD commute on a Saver fare?

Thanks for suggesting this idea. They said no guests allowed for Business non-status passengers. Case closed.

That J client may only fly once a year SYD- MEL.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I do remember previously that traveller's on a J fare could bring in two additional guests to the DJ lounge?

I'm not sure about that. I thought so too for a while but I think I was muddling up QF with DJ on this subject. In the end, I asked at the lounge ... no guests. But that was more then 9 months ago and things may have changed, though I'm sure sure they have.

Probably a long shot, but what if the guest of the non-status business traveler does have status? I imagine it flies a little too close to ATA for comfort so is probably a no. Still, anyone have any experience with that scenario?

I've bought a guest into the lounge as a non travelling SG who's guest was travelling J on VA....the lounge angels were 'of course you are welcome'

MEL Lounge is excellent with an extra one or two people if you explain the situation. Never had an issue on the very odd occasion

MEL, PER and BNE lounge staff = brilliant. They've taken a leaf out of AA's book for their Lounge AAngels for sure!
