Qantas Delays/Cancellations

The delayed QF1 (see above) arrived SIN at 2341 hours, earlier than previously expected, but still 146 minutes late.

On Wednesday 19, A388 VH-OQH was airborne at 0213 hours with LHR gate arrival suggested as 0824 hours, 109 minutes behind schedule. Once again the hypothesis that QFi has padding in the schedule for typical conditions materialises into a net gain on the timetable.

A332 VH-EBD has been late quite a bit.

On Tuesday 18 August., it was on the 1205 hours MEL-SIN QF35 that wasn't airborne until 1452 mid afternoon, arriving at 2025, 130 minutes late. It formed redeye QF52, the 2030 hours to BNE airborne from Singapore on the dot of 2200. This arrived Brisbane on Wednesday 19 at 0707 hours, 67 minutes behind. It is presently operating QF97, the 1425 hours BNE-MNL in the sky at 1548 with gate arrival expected at around 2105 mid evening, 40 minutes late.

B789 VH-ZNF on Tuesday 18 August's QF4 from JFK to AKL, the 1920 hours, did not take off until 2149. Thursday 20 gate arrival in AKL became 0648 hours, 113 minutes late. The second sector scheduled at 0645 from AKL saw the plane becoming airborne at 0820 hours with SYD gate arrival forecast for 0915 hours, 55 minutes behind schedule.

A332 VH-EBC on QF40 overnight from CGK to MEL arrived at 0655, 35 minutes late.

The 1030 hours PER-SYD QF6, the continuation from Italy's FCO, is forecast to depart two hours late at 1230 hours.

On Thursday 20 August, QF6 from PER to SYD had B789 VH-ZNG with its scheduled 1030 hours departure turning into takeoff at a much delayed 1541 hours, arriving SYD at 2111, 286 minutes late. It quickly formed QF75, the 2030 hours SYD-YVR airborne at 2248 not long before curfew. Gate arrival in Vancouver should be about 1923 hours, 113 minutes behind the timetable.

Continuing with Friday 21 August, QF93, the 0945 hours MEL-LAX (B789 VH-ZNL) was badly delayed, not becoming airborne until 1630 this afternoon. Same day gate arrival should be about 1318 hours, 373 minutes late. No obvious reason for the delay as the plane had pulled into its MEL gate at 0425 hours, 35 early, as QF22 from distant DFW.

Today, QFi would have had to rustle up a new crew given the huge delay. Did some or all have to fly down from Sydney?

Thursday 20 August's QF4 (1920 hours from JFK down and across to AKL) with B789 VH-ZND did not take off until 2237 hours, arriving at its AKL gate on Saturday 22 at 0708, 133 minutes behind schedule. The 0820 hours AKL_SYD second sector was then airborne at 0909, arriving at gate at 1012, 112 minutes late.

The plane then formed QF5, the afternoon 1405 hours SYD-PER in the sky at 1529. Expected gate arrival is 1755, 55 minutes late.

QF1268 was 20min delayed on MEL-BNE today (departed 40 late and arrived 21 late).

Unusual routing and no weather on bom or turbli. And QF1256 (also a A220) following 90mins later took the more usual routing.

Compared to normal quite a deviation.

Wonder what that was all about?
