Missing Out, In Part, On The [full] First Class Experience

Seems like all things Qantas it's a hit or miss experience....:-|

Not really. It maybe be hit or miss if you're on an upgrade or they may (rightfully) prioritise paying F passengers and CL over Award Flyers. The service works because every man and his dog getting upgrades and using points isn't using it.

Re: Missing Out, In Part, On The First Cass Experience

I'm happy enough looking after myself.

Same here. Been offered - not that interested.

My preference for First Class/Host treatment when arriving......hotel transfers that collect you at the gate, fast track you thru C&I, collect your bags from the carousel & then have water & towels waiting for you in a very nice vehicle:D

Re: Missing Out, In Part, On The First Cass Experience

They need dedicated First buggies that you hop on and get whisked around the airport. Get on at the curb and off again with a champagne in hand in the lounge. :) .

But how will this work in the F (intl) lounge at SYD? The buggy would never get up the escalator. Unless you're suggesting you have to stand, or worse still, walk up to that level. The horror!

Maybe they would be better off having on of those things you sit in and are carried by 4 strong men. With some gold tassels hanging off it.

I kind of like the fast track through C & I though...

The lift maybe? :p

mmmm is there a lift?

That's a pretty sweeping generalisation isn't it doc ? Sorry a bit OT but really

...a statement that is absolutely on the nail if you are a frequent flyer with QF. Inconsistency is the one thing that QF does well.

Yes, there is a lift. Can't say I've ever used it, even with the pram. So I'm not sure if the buggy would fit in it..

:D

So, they are consistently inconsistent. Sounds like my workplace....

Not interested in the attention quite frankly. A to B the quickest way self propelled thanks.

i get my kicks from peer acceptance!

Does the service speed things up though? That's what I'd want from it for my F dollars (or points).....

You think QF are consistent?

I have low expectations when I travel with QF by design. I expect to get a seat in the QP, a reasonable seat on the plane, I expect some food and drinks and I expect to be safely transported from A to B. For me, anything else is a bonus. So from my experience over many years, yes I would say that QF are consistent. I have tried others and will not do so again. We on AFF are a diverse bunch with a broad range of experiences and expectations when we travel so many will never agree but that's fine.

TonyHancock, could you please email me the membership form for the DYKWIA 5* Elite Plus Iridium frequent flyer program?

Cheers.

Speed I guess is relative in that sense proposed. Service can be welcome or unwelcome, necessary or otherwise.

somtimes I just want to sleep well. Now that's great value!

See, I'd argue if you can do something well, why not do it that way all the time?

Having low expectations and then being pleasantly surprised is certainly a far happier way to be. That doesn't make them consistent. It means they do the "base" well, but the "extras" are inconsistent. Which means you experience can be "satisfactory" one time, and "excellent" another.
