To those moaning about not having lounge open for JQ flights, tuff, it a QANTAS CLUB not jet star lounge

Considering it was a JQ lounge and they have a 2-brand strategy that's meant to stop customers heading to the competition, their choice in hours is very strange indeed. They really need to fix this issue, because while it persists, it'll push those that care to the competition, and those that don't care enough will just feel very jaded with the whole experience. That sort of feeling doesn't help the brand of either airline.

To those moaning about not having lounge open for JQ flights, tuff, it a QANTAS CLUB not jet star lounge

JQ and QF customers have lost access to lounge facilities they used to have, while those wishing to travel with lounge access have their options reduced, seems like a worthwhile moan for those affected, especially those located on the coast. You can imagine the confusion one might see should a Visit Downunder pass holder wish to take advantage of lounge access on his QF numbered JQ flight!

Whilst I have only flown 2 Jetstar segments in 12 months, (and only because I had to), but last time I checked accessing the QC whilst flying on JQ is an advertised benefit, for QC members, Gold and above. Eligibility and Access to The Qantas Club Lounges | Qantas

Anyway I think most of us are not JQ flyers anyway, what we're trying to say is where there is no convenient QF flight for eg. OOL-MEL on QF I have to go through SYD, the last flight out on a Tuesday from OOL to SYD on QF is at 17:40, and doesn't get me into MEL til 23:40 .. thats 5 hours!
So in some cases like this it would be better (or the only option) to fly JQ on the way back to get home earlier and on a direct flight whilst still earning SC's and points.

QF group are still making money, why can't they keep the lounge open a few extra hours to cater for people that are FF's that want to fly QF metal but simply can't due to QF's schedules.

Correct me if I am wrong but when it was a JQ lounge it was only WP's and above that got free access everyone else had to pay. JQ Business max had access.

Qantas Club members can access the Gold Coast Lounge up to and including 14th October 2012 upon payment of the Lounge entrance fee when flying on a Jetstar flight

Hmmm ... it's a two hour break then an early close:.

nice thank Serfty, so the majority of flight would get some sort of access, I think I would try and work my schedule in if flying JQ

The 1300-1530 closure is the obvious bit that should be got rid off...

The other thing to take away from that closure is that it effectively says no arrivals access for WP's arriving on QF863 (not that one flight is a big deal)... and as a WP that's one of the benefits I use the most. Arriving just after lunch I might want to grab a beer and relieve myself before heading home!

Very classic old QP style. Wonder which lounge had to give up their fittings to put it into OOL.

It's all new. No hint of anything being used.

It even has that new scent.

Same layout as the pre JQ Lounge Qantas Club minus the windows or natural light.

IMO these are also light red, or at the very least should be dark red.

At 17:20 I assume that (if handled like some other QLD ports) there will be an announcement like "QF865 is now boarding and the Qantas Club is now closed". For domestic flights departing around 6pm, I wouldn't be arriving until just after 5pm at this airport! And it doesn't take that long to go thru to international at OOL & even with a last minute counter check-in for JQ241 at 17:49 the lounge will be closed for a quickie on the way past.

For a comparison, here's the lounge bar when it was in JQ colours.

Point taken, but IMHO there are more regular travellers that like to be at the gate when boarding starts than not. As for the last minute check-in and the quickie that situation would be rare.

YMMV.

From those pictures I'm a bit disappointed, I was considering switching from VA to QF because I mainly use OOL. But it's nothing that great.
