I would like to hear opinions from my AFF colleagues if I should go after P1 in my current membership year. I am currently in Rio for work on a RTW J trip and when I return at the end of Sept I will easily have over the 3600SCs required, but will fall short with about 2300SCs of the required 2700SCs for QF flights. My membership year end Oct 31, so I will only have 1 month to attain ~400SCs. I am based in Perth and travel mostly overseas in J (work policy is +7hrs), so my trips to Singapore are in Y. I have the requirement to travel to Bangkok for work in October and maybe off to UK again end Oct or early Nov. If I did travel to Bangkok and depart for the UK by end of Oct, I would be ~90SCs short of P1.
My history is 10 years at SG, with this my first year at WP and it would be nice to get to WP1 after all the travel done this year (just an ego thing). But really, is it worth it? After reading a few posts regarding the perceived benefits of P1 and the not so great reviews from our elite travellers/members, I am not sure. Would also be nice to have work pay for the travel to get to WP1, but maybe I have to dip into my pocket just once and get a JASA? So, over to you: should I go for it and if yes, how best to acheive the required SCs by end October.
