Has Qantas confirmed the timings for QF1 and QF9 via DXB yet?

Not that I am aware of - although my sleep patterns will be fairly independent of flight time - alcomohol is a great way to get me to sleep - whatever happens it will be long flight followed by short flight.

Interesting - this actually is fairly adverse for my travel habits. For a late afternoon flight ex-SYD to SIN-LHR I find the short flight and consequently only short nap to work - I then fly the long flight and have another sleep SIN-LHR and tend to be awake for the last few hours - which makes for a long day on arrival but survivable. On the new route I would most likely have a biiiiig sleep on the SYD-DXB flight and not sleep much DXB-LHR - making for a very long day on arrival.

Just something to ponder...

I'm with you here.. I liked the stay awake to SIN then sleep to LHR, but it never worked coming back.. i'd like to fly MEL-HKG-LHR-DXB-MEL then I could sleep when it was on the second leg.

Not entirely sure just how valuable that car transfer will be in Venice.

Extremely valuable...the water taxi takes you from VCE to the closest canal point for your hotel

I haven't seen anything but hopefully they might make it a 0600 departure from Oz with a 90 minute stop in DXB which will mean landing at LHR just before 1900. Then again anything is possible though...

So what Emirates lounge access will a Qantas WP get? At the moment Emirates only grant first class lounge access to passengers flying first. Their highest skywards level gold only gets access to the business lounge.

Emirates and Qantas have quite different baggage allowances. Emirates typically has a better baggage allowance for economy passenger with no status. While Qantas have a better allowance for just about everyone else. How will this discrepancy be handled? If at all?

eek! I'd had a 6am departure to LHR! no F lounge time!

Something else that will be interesting to see is what QF/EK will do with the lounges in Perth. Since EK offers first whether the EK lounge would become a First Class lounge for First and WP and new EK Elite level and then have the QP as a Business Class lounge.

Pointless really to have the overlap in Perth and guess there will be other places like this - potentially AKL etc.

Give me a break! Are you mixing up Dubai with Kabul or Tehran?!

These kind of comments are ridiculous considering the stability of the UAE when compared with other regional sovereignties - and even more so when you consider that in flying to Europe via Dubai you won't even have to leave the very nice airport!
+1
Well, Florence and I have never been to Dubai and are very much looking forward to having a walk around the streets.

EH
Went for the first time in July, it really is an INCREDIBLE place.

The misinformed views of the UAE, Islam and the Arab world on this forum border on ridiculous.

War ravaged? Australia is heavily involved in several conflicts in the Arab world while the UAE Defence Force remains undeployed.

I think many would be surprised just how many meals today are Halal. In fact, I believe GateGourmet was considering making all meals Halal Airline caterer serves up halal-only menu - FT.com

As for prescription medications, almost all states indicate on their consulate or embassy's website to carry the prescription, letter from one's Doctor and to keep the labels on the boxes. This even applied to the UK and the US.

If you are Islamaphobic or scared of Arabs then don't fly EK or venture into the Arab World. I doubt your custom will be noticed or missed!

Back on topic, good to have confirmation on the limousine service. When QF tied up with EY, the QF fares were an additional $2-$3k in F, and the car was not provided.
You beat me to it.

The ignorance displayed by a select few on here disgusts me.

Whilst I agree with you completely I do have to stand up for their right to be ignorant if they so desire :!:

The best way past their ignorance is to take each incorrect statement and explain why it is wrong and what is the correct answer.

Interesting point about the ten-year codeshare agreement.

FYI, SriLanka Airlines:

Air Lanka, which was state-owned, was part-privatized to the Dubai-based Emirates Group in 1998, when Emirates and the Sri Lankan Government signed an agreement for a ten-year strategic partnership. This agreement included exclusive rights for all aircraft ground handling and airline catering at Colombo-Bandaranaike airport for a ten-year period. Emirates bought a 40% stake worth US$70 million (which it later increased to 43.6%) in Air Lanka, and sought to refurbish the airline's image and fleet. The Government retained a majority stake in the airline, but gave full control to Emirates for investment and management decisions. In 1998, the Air Lanka rebrand to SriLankan Airlines. [SUP][10]
[/SUP]
In 2008 Emirates notified the Sri Lankan Government that it would not renew its management contract,[SUP][12][/SUP] which then expired on 31 March 2008. It claimed that the Sri Lankan Government was seeking greater control over the day-to-day business of the airline, "which was not acceptable to us".[SUP][13]
[/SUP]
Emirates sold its 43.63% stake in the airline to the Government of Sri Lanka in a deal that was finalised in 2010, thus ending any affiliations the two airlines had with each other.[SUP][18][/SUP]
