Re: Business seat available but can't upgrade.

Also confirmed today with Plat desk that promotion extended to 30 June.

Sorry to bump an older thread, but with the end of the month approaching, does anyone know if the extension is just for platinums or will it be for everyone?

They do not refund your points if you cancel the upgrade. But as I understand it, if you are simply changing flights and there is award availability on the new flights, you will be switched right across with your upgrade. The call centre people will insist that this cannot be done and that you will forfeit your upgrade but push your point and ask for a supervisor if they insist on forfeiting your upgrade.

Was also told the same that you should call them and they will help you find availability on a flight to transfer to (orginal fare rules and pricing applies) - admittedly harder if booked thru a travel agent.
Whereas the complimentary vouchers are refundable if flights are changed.

Slightly disturbed with the outcome of my points upgrade today for SYD-ADL-OOL. I requested an upgrade for all legs, only to be told that there was no availability for ADL-OOL turns out to be a 737-700. I thought, ok just do the upgrade for SYD-ADL. Checked my activity and they've deducted half points for a zone 3 upgrade, i.e. SYD-ADL-OOL, not for a Zone 2 upgrade as in SYD-ADL. Stupid me really I should have told them just to upgrade the first leg instead of assuming that logic would prevail. But it is frustrating to have to ring up again to sort out the mess, really.

Re: Flight upgrades for half the Velocity Points [now 'til Dec '12] - March & April 2

I booked and upgraded a couple of MEL-PER flights two weeks and ago was charged the full (9,900 pp each way) rate.....was this just poor timing on my past or did the promo stop and then restart?

Seems to have just restarted as at 1 Aug.
Prior one finished 30 June.

So nothing for month of July.

Booked and upgraded flights for August last week on full value. One would think that if the booking falls into the promotion period, there should be a credit of half the points

Quick question, for these points upgrades, are they charged in the same way that DJ credits 'sectors'?

i.e. PER-SYD (via MEL) would only earn SCs for PER-SYD - If you were upgrading, would you only be charged the points for PER-SYD, or would you be charged twice (PER-MEL, MEL-SYD)?

/random thought.

Just the once I believe. Although the opportunity to book and upgrade these is much less than it was in past months IMO (Booking engine doesn't spit out much, used to offer a myriad of options on A330, but I could get nothing for September to get a "2-for-1" as it were)

As mentioned elsewhare, just as SC's credit based on the single Origin/Destination route, so are these upgrades charged. So PER-MEL, PER-SYD, PER-xMEL-SYD and PER-xSYD-MEL would both be charged just the one fee.

In a similar vein, If I upgraded a MEL-OOL flexi fare to J that routes MEL-xSYD-OOL, would I be upgraded on both the MEL-SYD and SYD-OOL flights? I'm seeing some flexis on this routing pop up at cheaper prices than saver fares, and this could be a fun way to do a mini status run...

Yes - did this last fortnight. Both flights will be upgraded.
