That's a v nice promo .. especially with the 20% off flexi fares currently happening.

Useful if you need SC's to requalify (ie me!) as you can still earn unlike point redemptions.

Sometimes the cards just fall your way! I made 8 Flexi bookings last night and when I went to upgrade them realized it was only 5 mins until the call centre closed, and decided to leave it until this morning. A nice little points saving coming my way.

mind you I did realize how much my weekly travel bill has gone up, Cheapest return Flexi HBA SYD is now $232, and often as much as $380 depending on loadings!

Correct - you only earn points for the fare you paid $$ for.

Correct - you only earn points for the fare you paid $$ for.

And that fare has to be a Flexi in order to upgrade

Another good move by Virgin but I still think points+pay option yield better returns.

Does the flight need to be taken in March and April or can it be later? The terms and conditions just state 'actioned' which would seem to imply the flight can be outside the offer period.

With points plus pay, cheap points upgrades from flexi (and 20% discount on flexi), and last months double points and SC on J class, I am indeed struggling to give Qantas any domestic business at the minute.
Just also seen the amex ascent premium 30% bonus on miles transfers to DJ, they really are trying hard, hope it works for them.

Just booked one. Unfortunately had the full points amount deducted. Have PM'ed VFF and hopefully will get suitable resolution...

I think that the Call Centre should be able to resolve. I did 6 flights with one consultant who proactively offered the discounted rate. The 2nd consultant did not seem to know about it and went to deduct the full points. She checked with her supervisor and found that they have another calculator for this offer.

I am sure they could fix very quickly

I don't think it does with this deal/promo. I upgraded 3 flexi fares tonight. $179, $158 and $158 and each cost 2,450 points to upgrade to J and i will earn status credits plus over 60% of the points back with my platinum bonus.

Good pick up, I think it is if it is just booked during the pickup and for anytime. I may have to look at some forward booking if this is the case, can anyone confirm this?

I don't think it does with this deal/promo. I upgraded 3 flexi fares tonight. $179, $158 and $158 and each cost 2,450 points to upgrade to J and i will earn status credits plus over 60% of the points back with my platinum bonus.

I suppose it all depends on the price of the flexi fare. I'm looking at MEL-BNE return for 2 pax. Saver $135 or Flexi $269My dates are set, so no need for flexi. Each to their own I suppose
