I just wish they would put them on the FRA route as well. I now do A380 to SIN then the QF5 just to have a MKII at least part of the way.

Q for the Zone A regulars - is sitting in Row 1 in the J config the way to go? Have always been curious about the slight view forward from the fuselage.

Travelling alone on my next flight.

I haven't travelled it myself, but the general feedback seems to be that row 1 in the refurb'ed 747s is very cramped - not a good seat. As a solo traveller, 5B or 5J seems to get the guernsey.

I must admit I'm curious about the view though too

Just love the 747 - it will be nice to finally get on one in J and lie flat Mind you, I've been doing that for many years on BA so it will be nice to actually do it on QF:!:

Hi,

Travelling alone in Y QF107 later in the year. 43C or 43H available at the moment. Is the legroom via cutout in bulkhead similar on either? Any other suggestions (other than go J ) for seating. 43D-G blocked out.

Was on the new 747 config just recently. Seat 5B on OEG QF108 JFK/LAX and then seat 2K on OEJ QF16 LAX/BNE (then on to MEL on domestic).

I found 5B to be a fantastic seat for the evening QF108 flight. As mentioned previously, there is a locker directly to your left in the partial space of what would have been seat 5A. The locker has about enough room to lay a computer bag flat and to store your blanket/paper etc. In front of the locker is a space (hole) which is more than big enough for a computer bag standing up, although storage is not allowed there during take-off/landing of course. Directly above the seat is a small overhead bin just big enough for a carry-on bag, which feels a little exclusive. You can easily see out the windows from the seat.

I was in seat 2K on the LAX/BNE sector but walked past 5B and 5J a bit during the night heading to the toilet etc. One thing I did notice during the first sector (when in 5B) was that the orientation of the cabin means that passengers coming out of Zone A seem to head directly towards the row 5B/J seats which is a bit of a bother. Not a huge problem during the day, but at night I wondered whether there was a high likelihood of people bumping the seat as they head rearward in the dark.

Only other point of note was the new lighting system. While an improvement on stark white lights, the colours selected (ie bright red) seem a little odd at times.

Overall though I thought the new configuration was fantastic and a great improvement.

Row 14 would be the pick in my opinion, however there's a lot of good ones upstairs and down.
I prefer anything upstairs if only because of side storage bins.

With the caveat that I have not yet flown in this aircraft, I'd go in order 3E/F & 14A/B | 14J/K.

With the former, no-one has to move to permit the other to access the aisle.
