Back down to 1.0335. Be lucky to get USD at Parity at most currency exchanges in Australia.

1.0196 at travelex.com.au - But not sure if that is yesterdays rate or today's.. They only update once per day

John K - Have you made a quick trip to the USA ???

Thinking about the way our dollar goes up and down with our interest rates and the predicted decrease in interest on Cup day I paid last weekend
(via amex) for car rental and accom. for our next trip to the US early next year - I wonder what rate will appear when the charges drift through
to my credit card.

Usually Immediately after the RBA makes an interest rate announcement there will be movement in the currency, give it a week and it usually creeps back.

In this case I hope we get to see 1.07 again soon. Though 1.03 is still good.

I just purchased 100K PC pts for USD600 and the current xe.com exchange rate is 1.066. Interesting to see what exchange rate shows up on my 28 degrees MC.
Irritatingly, the transaction posted with a date of Nov 1, not Oct 28 the date of actual purchase, and at an exchange rate of 1.0268 which is quite different to the official rate at the time of purchase:evil:. IIRC, the rate on Oct 29 was around 1.07, and on Nov 1 (date on 28 degree MC) around 1.03. Is it usual for MC transactions to be dated 3 days after the actual transction?

It's annoying when that happened. I had one take 2 weeks to post, and it managed to go through when the dollar was at a low point  Unfortunately, these things seem to be a bit out of ones control.

Dropped below parity again earlier and now marginally back up again at 1.0031421404.

AUD 1 = USD 1.0762 = GBP 0.6805 = Eur 0.8178 as per xe.com now

Where is it all heading? Feel like jumping on a plane and heading OS (anywhere!) right now....

For once I am having a bit of luck with currency, had a deal at work that had a pricing error in it, at 1.02 I was making very little money, at 1.07 I am back to normal profit, nice!

Tonight the local tax on purchases is being neutralized by the rise of the $AUD. It makes shopping in Los Angeles a real bargain.

I got 1.0675 for the $US1,000 out of the ATM using the 28 degree card.
Now I could get 60 by 30 packs of Bud beer for the game tomorrow afternoon .....1800 12 fl oz cans of beer....I would have no cash but I would be a little beyond caring.
Seriously though getting cash this way works great!

Leaving interest rates on hold seems to have given the AUD a boost.

XE have it at 1.08USD, 0.823 Euro and 0.684 GBP

Sure has! Makes my decision to bring back USD$7000 (exchanged at parity) in cash from the US last Feb look like a rather poor one:oops::shock:....but with several OS trips this year where the costs are based on USD, I'm not complaining about the high AUD!!

RBA surprise puts Aussie dollar on record course | AUD

Yes I put a bit into our US account to earn 0.25% interest. Of course it really does not make sense but the $AUD looks heavy at the moment.

You've got a better rate than I do on my UK funds then! ;)
