Hi all,

AA lost my bag for about 28 hours on a YYZ-ORDx-DCA flight recently.

At one point they said they had absolutely no idea where bag was and told me to go purchase clothes and lodge a claim.

Have done so but have no idea how much they will pay or when it will be processed or indeed what form the payment will take. Any ideas? FT and AA website are sort of vague on the whole idea of "reasonable" expenses.....

Thanks

AA lost my suitcase last year. It was missing for three days. I lodged a baggage claim report at JFK. I was given a file locator number and this number needs to be quoted and used when either speaking with a
AA baggage clerk or if your checking your baggage status online.
I was quoted a figure on how much I could claim back. I think each individual case is quoted a different amount.
When I got back to Australia I had 30days to lodge my claim, all details can be found on the AA website on exactly what and how you need to lodge your claim.
I got a cheque after about 2 months, I had given up hope but it was a nice bonus as I had basically written the entire episode off.
I was refunded for things bought that I didnt think they would refund me for.

Thanks I sent of claim whilst I was in the US last week, so I guess I just wait and hope......

Good luck with it, you will be pleasantly surprised.
Still nothing, so basically given up as is now 2.5 months since claim lodge.

Only message I have was that claim had been processed but they could not convey status via email.

Still nothing and have lodged a formal complaint, but still don't expect any joy

Update.

I still have not received any correspondence or compensation for lost luggage (despite AA confirming I was entitled to it).

However after a third complaint on AA customer care website, I have been offered a flight voucher (not much good to me as I usually do a DONE4).

Still nothing on the original compensation claim.

Should I give up??

Original claim was $300 and I do not know what value the vouchers are.

Just got an email saying they had mailed vouchers. Are they transferable?

Still no joy

Hiya

Sorry to read you issue has not been finalised after all this time, and vouchers to use the American term, "what a crock"..

Vouchers won't be any use to you if you don't plan to go back to the States.

Email them back and ask them how much for and why vouchers and if vouchers how long before they expire, considering you were a visitor to the States and would not be easy for you to use them.

Dont give up, keep emailing them and asking them questions.

Just a thought maybe write a letter or two and post it to their Head office in DFW and address it to the Manager and Head of various departments, and even printout the emails
that you and them have sent you.
