I'll just open another account if the link still works and just leave my other one. Only had 1400 points.

I didn't "notify" them of anything. I actually just asked if they could swap the number in my myaccorhotels.com profile to the new a-club number and they responded that they had merged the accounts.

Not surprising to see promos pulled if they think invalid people are applying.

Have seen it before with hilton and other travel organisations like air nz. Now the real question occurs... Will they data match current enrollees and retract upgrade. Im not worried, very close to earned plat anyway.

Received the Free Platinum Accor Status last December. Just renewed (Wednesday) my Advantage Plus Membership and they bumped me back to Silver  !!!
Called Advantage Plus member services and they have upgraded me back to Platinum :D:D

Accor Platinum looks like the easiest tier to achieve...\sign up somewhere on a site and get the status. I am still contemplating if there is any value in it other than holding a 'Platinum' membership card. It hardly gives any benefit and I am pretty sure that when you are at the check-in, they will have something to highlight that this is not an earned tier. I would like to be corrected if someone can convince me that Accor is serious about loyalty or continued patronage.

I recently signed up under the promotion and received platinum status. I checked into the Novotel Darwin, received a bottle of wine, upgraded room and 4pm check out, and 100% bonus points. I asked the A-Club helpdesk to merge my accounts as I have an Advantage Plus silver account, and they have now merged my accounts into a silver account, so no more platinum!!

If your a paid member it is near impossible to get the upgrade. Advantage Plus customer service have the control over your account not AClub and they don't like to give away anything, whilst anybody can get a Platinum AClub without parting with a single cent. Advantage Plus have horrid customer service as a bonus too.

In my opinion, you will get more value out of not renewing your Advantage Plus, saving $300, and getting an easy upgrade to AClub platinum. Sure you no longer get your free night allocated, but you are paying for it up front anyway. The chances are you won't use the free night because you can never make a booking using one when it suits you.

You will never get a room upgrade by being a paid member. They reserve the good treatment for the non paid members.

The only upgrade Accor knows to give is the free Platinum / Gold card..nothing else. The whole group is extremely stingy when it comes to upgrade even for earned members..let alone the free ones. What I would do with this is to write to another chain and see if match the status...and you might be lucky. Marriott is a good choice.

Got very well looked after at Sofitel Melbourne on Saturday night with upgrade, late checkout, free drinks etc..

Good luck getting it matched though.

The main benefits of Le Club Platinum only apply if your stay is at a Sofitel, Pullman or MGallery. I have had Novotel people simply say that those benefits do not apply at their hotel (in the nicest, friendliest, customer orientated way (cough)).

It depends if you are a regular guest or a one off. My experience with Novotel and Mecure has been ok as a repeat customer but hideous as a first and last time visitor. Shame there is no consistency as this is important to any status program.
