Please confirm that Qantas will not be changing the number of SC's annually required to achieve Platinum status. Also please confirm the rate at which Platinum members are awarded SC's or access to lounges/benefits will not be adjusted to members detriment.

Please no spin about enhancements, just straight answears to these questions.

Thanks markis10, I am flying over in March returning in April. Do you think the Santiago flights will start in April?

I know that Domestic Priority Boarding is important and from reading the thread, boarding is inconsistent across ports and gates. I have mentioned previously that I know this is an issue and we are working on it but I have escalated this to our Customer Experience team to get some more concrete information to share with you all. In the meantime, lets keep this thread to todays announcements and when I have an update on Domestic Priority boarding, I will put it in that relevant thread.

Are these guys located near the pancake team? Or can we get the pancake team to help them out? Sorry couldn't resist! :mrgreen: i needed to lighten it up!

But I am glad to hear it is being looked at and hopefully have a good outcome !
 
People said Tiger Woods would never come back, Michael Schumacher would never come back, Michael Jordan to never come back and guess what??? ......... so is there any chance of Anytime Access making a comeback? ;)
 
Hello Red Roo (or anyone) .Can you tell me when Qantas will stop flying to EZE please?

Hi there, From early 2012 we'll commence flights between Sydney and Santiago, and replace Qantas direct flights between Sydney and Buenos Aires. This is still subject to goverment and regulatory approvals though, so we'll let you know as soon as we have further information and specific dates. Cheers, Red Roo
 
I appreciate what your saying Red Roo, but look at it from a WP point of view.

With all due respect... they are trying to save an airline. WP's or any other FF's point of view will not achieve this. They need to and seem to be looking at it from an external point of view, with the hope that it returns them a viable and profitable international operation.

Thanks. I am very concerned about availability of upgrades and seats in Business for FF classic redemptions in future. Qantas's filing with the ASX says you are reducing the Qantas Mainline International fleet directly operated by Qantas by 6 A 380's and 4 B744's a reduction of 10 aircraft. You will only introduce the deferred A380's when the last of the 744's are retired. So still a reduction.

All the new aircraft A320's are going to Jetstar, Jetstar Asia, Jetsar Japan and previous announcements suggest all the intial orders 787's are going to Jetstar. No new investment in Qantas International mainline and reduced number of aircraft.

The cold hard reaility is that Qantas International as we know it is being shrunk . This has serious implications for Frequent Flyers as we generally accumulate points domestically to spend on international premium services. The number of Classic Award seats on directly operated Qantas flights will shrink dramatically.

Red Roo, if there are to be new routes could it please be PER-NRT/HND? Your SIN/HND codeshare(QF 4025 and 4026) do not allow seat upgrades and do not allow seat selection and I can't even book an any seat award on that route. PER-HKG does not provide reasonable fare listings or codeshare to Japanese cities such as cough flying Dragon Air. I also hate stopovers.

I miss PER-NRT terribly having used it as an excellent route to North America. AA and JAL connections to North American cities are excellent out of NRT. Far better than two domestic layovers via SYD/LAX or SYD/DFW.

goldy, QF is one of the most profitable airlines in the world already, Rolls-Royce deal drives Qantas profit and is heading towards the 2010/2011 year being again in profit.

Not sure where you're coming from with the 'they are trying to save an airline' bit, they are trying to set themselves up for the future and to remain profitable like any business with a plan.

Yep, scary. How can QF International 'grown' while been cut off at the knees????
 
I assume QF is saving cutting SYD - HNL for the 24th? :p

As I've said on this forum a number of times (and been derided by some for saying it) - SYD- HNL makes a profit for both QF and JQ, so why would QF drop it??? Would make no sense whatsover.

They may be profitable overall, but International is dying a slow painful death and this is what they are trying to turn around, by implementing a business plan for it and the airline overall to remain profitable.
A WP's objection to his "enhancements" seems insignificant in the greater scheme of things. The reintroduction of Anytime Access or any other benefits "enhanced" by Qantas will not fix their problems.
 
Another thought Red roo.As QLD is said to be the gateway to Japan can we hope for QF or New Premium asia to once again give us BNE-NRT flights.

Hi Farmer,

It is true that Qantas International is reducing some services as has been outlined today.

However, there'll also be some new opportunities for earning and using points to get to more places. With Malaysia Airlines joining OW, the KL hub will provide a new way to get to different parts of Europe. In addition with all of our deepening alliance relationships, Any Seat Redemptions will be available with over 43 airlines, and Classic Awards with 26 partners.

Also, a special announcement for the AFF community - I am also pleased to advise that Qantas Frequent Flyers will be able to earn and redeem QFF points on the new premium airline based in Asia, as well as earning Status credits. Cheers, Red Roo
 
As an aside: the "As one of our most valued customers" bar is pretty low!

I just got the email from AJ and i'm QF bronze and have caught exactly one Qantas flight in the last year (plus a few J* due to my frequent MEL-NTL trips and a few CX flights credited to QF).

Still it's good to know i'm one of their 8million or so "most valued customers." Would be slightly more honest to address me as "As someone who occasionally uses our airline."

Yes but if Anytime Access's comeback is anything like Tigers you wont even recognise it!:p
 

The only reason Jetstar has grown so rapidly is that it virtually gifted the entire Qantas domestic network that was not CityFlyer routes.

I fly with Jetstar every now and again - only because I'm flying a route that used to be operated by Qantas and is now operated by Jetstar, so there's no choice.
