Anyone Making Too Many FF points?

I like to keep around 500000 for a rainy day but I do spend them very quickly.

I don't like the balance to be very low in case I need to book a quick JASA.

And no, I'm not making too many FF points, infact my balance is now down to just over 1600, but given my limited amount of travelling this year I decided to burn through them on some throw away trips (eg the FLounge weekend...) as they where not doing any good just sitting in the account.

Try to hoard them but then worry about them being devalued so spend them (eg never know when JASA's might be enhanced)

I thought I heard the tail end of a news bulletin where an American had amassed 600 million points and I thought that could be a bit OTT.Making points to hoard certainly would be a problem if the airline devalued them so the idea of burning them seems to be the best move for sure!

Now I burned 700,000 Ansett points one month before they ceased operating by taking the family away for a holiday overseas. Turned out to be my points deal of the century!

Ansett was a big loss of points to many including our family but you have to dust your loss off and stay in the game.

Perspective required here, plenty lost their livelihoods.

(Not accusing anyone of anything but far more important issues were highlighted when Ansett went belly up. People losing FF points doesn't really rate.)

That would make me a grandad as well!Pretty attractive idea seeing my sons won't even leave home let alone produce a baby or two.I will be booking the London trip pretty soon and I think we will leave the boys home to practice being hunter gatherers.

Earning and accruing FF points is so much a part of our lives today it could be viewed as an addiction - I know I suffer badly from it.

Equally as important as 'earning' them is 'spending' them wisely.

I earnt 1.4mil KF points during the early days of the KF Westpac 3:1 on AMEX that I started spending them like their was no tomorrow - well guess what - tomorrow came - points were gone - lesson learnt - no chance of any of my points ever expiring.
