Anyone Making Too Many FF points?

Nope points balance quite low :( always happy to relieve someone of some of their millions :D:rolleyes::D

I am always earning way more FF points than I can spend. And for me the higher the balance the better the feeling.

I also have way too much money and I am looking for a female who is willing to relieve me of at least half of my wealth at some point in the near future. ;)

One thing it's always nice to balance the FF points with a few hotel stay points, or even better free night stays earned through promos. That means you can get free nights alongside the discounted flights you get from FF points.

JohnK it is good to see you can joke about partners. It can go the other way too! If there is a feel good coming from hoarding then that is good isn't it? Dajop is ready to do free rooms and free flights both on points so that sounds very attractive going forward.

Won't be joking about it if it happens to me though.

I love seeing the balance grow and it is always good to have some sort of target.

Planning to redeem 2 x economy Oneworld awards next year which will reduce the balance a little but looking forward to the trip.

I like to keep enough points for a one-way Y/JASA, given how expensive international one-way tickets can be. Apart from that, I usually prefer the slash and burn approach. Apart from using the points before they are devalued, they also help improve current cash flows so I can put my hard earned somewhere else rather than having my "asset" stuck in an airline's balance sheet.

Like to see points in statements but have burned and given away over 500K (a few local JASA, 1 classic F, 1 FASA return international plus 2 lots of 100k given to family) in last two years.

I lost a lot with the demise of Ansett.

I have to agree that there are never too many points, I had been keeping my balance static ~150K by burning on ODU's.

Then JASA came along and I have been spending my points - they now sit ~ 50K

Likewise with Ansett. My memory is getting vague on this but I believe I lost about 280,000 with the Ansett demise.

This last 12 months I have burnt about 350,000 QF points, and still have about 550,000 QF, 135,000 Velocity, 440,000 Hilton and 220,000 Priority Club points.

Maybe it's time for a big holiday :!:

ASAs have certainly altered my point-using habits, due to the ability to earn SCs (and to a lesser extent points). Have burnt close to 400K in the last 9 months or so, on 2 x JASA and 1 x FASA (2 of which I haven't even taken yet). Previously would try for either J classic redemption, or upgrades.

I'm not a particularly quick accruer of points, currently ~75K - and I have some tentative plans for those too, so likely to put myself down near zero for a while. :(

As for the question in the OP, never too many, and I don't hoard beyond a certain poinht.

I am sure there are people about who fly so much for work (accruing points as they go),that the last thing they want to do on a holiday is fly, hence have an ever-increasing points balance that they struggle to put any sort of dent in.

That is where I am at too. I have burnt 832,000 points on JASA/FASA's in the last seven months. I haven't taken any yet, the first is in October. I need the points as well as the SC's. Previously I would use them on upgrades...where I could! The JASA/FASA's are all for work. I struggle to face getting on a plane for holidays!

Ah yes Ansett. I lost about 400,000 pts from memory with my whole family closer to 750,000 pts. I was pretty upset about it but then I realised that I was fortunate in that I didn't lose my job etc as my great friends at AN did. In some ways, my loss was nominal.

So how many bonus points have you guys amassed in last 12 months with CC sign on bonii?

My quick calculation is QF 148,000, Velocity 30,000 and AMEX 10,000 - I don't think I have missed any.

Well there is BankWest,WoolworthsEDR,Citi Select and Amex Velocity as newbies so sign ons were 32.5k,
16k,60k and 30k respectively I believe. The existing cards give you nothing as you are already on board but I am not complaining.

Mrscove is getting on board with a capped BankWest Platinum card and because she gets a 50k BPay limit it makes life simpler for us. 200k points capping is fine as long as we are careful not to exceed that total each year.
Paying Citi and Woolworths EDR has just become very easy using BPay as the 5k former limit was difficult.
It came with a token just like our business tokens work so it is secure enough for our use.
