Ok, before I get started, let me point out I own many Apple products. I have a Macbook, iMac, 2 iPods and an iPad 2. I like them all but I don't think they're the be all and end all. What I don't get is these Apple fan bois who will que for hours to be the first to own the latest iDevice (ok I qued for several hours to get my iPad in New York but that was months after the launch and because I knew I'd be saving some decent $$$). But apparently, after getting into a conversation with some Apple fanatics, the way I've set up my computers isn't good enough and I should be using different software, such as Parallels over VMware Fusion, iWork over Office Mac or Open Office. If they want to go and shell out extra money for something they feel is superior, fine. That's their choice. What I don't like is someone telling me off because they don't agree with my choices of settings or software which I feel is right for me. I know I'm on a bit of a non-sense rant here, but I'm over listening to the endless droning of Apple fanatics about how good Apple stuff is and how one should use particular software or third party hardware over another. Sometimes I think listening to the crazy religious guy on the street corner is a better use of my time, because the way some Apple fans think, Steve Jobs is god or greater than god.

Let it be known (again) that I have Apple devices. I like them. I think they're good. But.

I don't think Apple is the be all and end all
I don't think Steve Jobs is god.

End rant.

You should fly Qantas J rather than Jetstar Y2-, and pay for it with your black card. ;)

I hear you! I love my apple products, but each to their own on how they have it set up..

I think zealots is an appropriate term!

I am what many would call a 'Fanboy' even though I hate the term.

I will not queue (spelled correctly) for a laptop or the like.

I did queue for an iPhone 4. I knew how in short-supply these would be (and my old iPhone 3G was annoying me so much I was ready to throw it at a brick wall). I'm glad I did, as most people I know who didn't queue had to wait months to get the model they wanted (and hey, it was released on my birthday last year, so I wanted a new shiny toy for my birthday; this year i'm just flying on my birthday instead :P).

I do not tell people what they should or shouldn't have though. That's absolutely a personal decision. I prefer Office over iWork or OpenOffice, I use Parallels, but only because I have a free version (I'd be equally happy with VMWare Fusion, and have used it before, they both do what I need, ie run windows).

I don't tell people how they should dress, how they should vote or what sexuality they should be, so why should anyone tell others how to have their computer setup?

I don't personally see it as being a fanboy thing, but perhaps a trait that goes hand-in-hand with those that have tendencies to be a 'fanboy'.

OK, end of the 'its all about me' post ;)

I am getting to be an apple fan on some levels.

I have just purchased a Mac Book Pro laptop.

I have a Ipad the first generation and i have also purchased both I phones but they both sit in the cupboard as like my Blackberry more but currently using a Motorola Atrix but was because my BB Bold died and i need a ph urgently.

The thing i like most about Apple products is the battery life.

Thing i don't like about the Mac book pro is no number pad on the laptop keyboard.

Overall they are a good product but they are not a awesome products.

Apple do not have the best products now, but they were the the ones to (re-)invent the original products.

iPod - genius circle wheel. I think the Creative devices are better, but Apple turned mobile music from the Walkman era into what it is now. They developed iTunes to complete the circle.
iPhone - revolutionary touch screen. The Motorola Atrix and Blackberry Torch are now superior devices, but Apple was the first and has subsequently dominated the "Apps" markets.
MacAir - revolutionary ultra thin design. Enough said.
Extreme Wireless N router - first to commercially produce N signal which does not degrade if you concurrently have A/B signals as well.
Apple TV - WD and other media players have come to the party, but Apple were way ahead of their time - completed the circle with the iStore.
iPad - who'd have thought this would be a winner? The Blackberry Playbook is now a better device, but with the range of Apple Apps, who will buy one.

Steve Jobs is not God, but give credit where credit is due.

Apple in the last few years have made some 'game changing' products, that have revolutionise their respective markets. On top of that, they have got some pretty damn fine industrial designers that have been able to create beautiful products that are quite functional. The competition in a lot of respects has caught up.

As always, though, you are best off getting the products that solve your problems, or suit the way you do things.

On what basis do you make that claim, is that simply your opinion? Just curious given i'm going to swap from a Blackberry to the iPhone when #5 is released.

I phone 5 has not been released but some of the huge bonus between I phone 4 and Blackberry.

Touch screen some love some hate it. I prefer no touch screen.

Blackberry's are a lot more robust than I phone's. No touch screen

I am a big user and prefer the Blackberry because i can carry a spare battery and swap it over when phone goes flat during the day. I phone's battery is in the unit and not removable.

BIS is great and the data is unlimited with BIS and i phone you have to consider how much data you process.

I am on a 5gb data limit for my ph and went very close last month. Before that i have been on a BB with BIS.

I phone is a bit like a toy where as the BB is very much a solid work phone.

I preferred the e mails coming to my BB as you could easily make them do certain things and work certain ways.

Im no apple bois but our we have 2 iPhones , 1 iPad, 1 iPad2, and 3 iPods .... But I still can't change to a Mac computer.... In just too "windowed" to understand how to do anything.... Like the idea of the devices working together but would need a brain transplant....
Must admit that I do live a gadget but wouldn't lineup for one.
( am in the process of getting a seagate goflex satellite wireless hd drive to stream movies, pics and files etc to my iPad wirelessly) from USA as not released in Oz yet.

Can I rant about people who think "queue" is spelled "que" ?

I was just so filled with rage that right on cue, I lost the ability to spell queue properly.

I don't disagree in anyway. Apple certainly have reinvented or simply created product sectors. But having said that, Apple have had product failures which fan bois will seldom admit to.

I guess that kinda proves my point. If it was so good it wouldn't be necessary to do those things. ;)

Not exactly, I do not know any device that is officially selling with XBMC with IceFilms included!

umm, what about the jailbreak and add XMBC bit? Ice films or otherwise. If it was great then you wouldn't have added those things at all.
