In my experience, most people in F change into PJs before take off. Whereas in J, I've seen quite a few people not bother to put them on. Personally I change into them soon after boarding. In F you will have plenty of time because you board quickly (with dedicated boarding) and it's a small cabin with 2-3 bathrooms.

For some reason I never do. Even leave my shoes on until cruise as I always prepare to leave a burning aircraft in a hurry! A bit parro? Quite possibly!

Look some would say you're being sensible Spruce. Others would say you're tempering the F experience by ignoring the statistical safety of air travel. The way I look at it, after the two or three glasses of Bolly I manage to gorge on prior to wheels up, the lack of a particular type of footwear is the least of my worries if I have to exit the aircraft in a hurry. ;)

I was about to say the same thing Sprucegoose

While the odds are low I too wouldn't change or take of my shoes till after take off in case of an emergency.

When I see passengers change I often think that in an emergency - your gonna be burden (situational awareness - someone without shoes is gonna be in trouble if there is fire or debris around)

Oh and going down the slides in those PJ's - it's gonna hurt!

Why would the slide hurt more with PJs than jeans, trousers or shorts?

I agree with the issue of footwear - I tend to wear slip on shoes so maybe I would put them on in an emergency...

I also think you will have bigger burdens than someone who has travelled enough to decide to wear their PJs - there will be mad panic, bodies all around you and fire. Someone in PJs wont be high on the list of concerns.

Just the material rubbing against the slide. It's not very thick so you could get vinyl burn

Naturally this isn't exclusive to PJ's - all depends on the material and what it isn't covering

Jeans would be OK - I've done it in jeans

Shorts could be a problem - especially around your thighs if they ride up and expose your leg.

Even though I was in a controlled environment when I went down, those slides are steep and fast. Your hands can even get burn as I learnt when I went to balance myself - big mistake but so easy to do when your going so fast on an angle.

board the plane, take PJ's off seat and change before anyone else can use the WC. More than anything, enjoy the experience and consider their tasting menu for your meal.

Then they have a technical issue, please disembark:oops:

They F pj's don't have pockets in the front which I found challenging. I didn't realise I stuffed my hands into pockets so much until they weren't there (the pockets, not the hands )

IMHO,
people wearing the pj's is a bit like many of the bicycle riders wearing lycra;

there's a few that can get away with it, but there's a lot that really shouldn't even think about it, let alone wear it.....

Umm. Maybe not the place to mention it but you wear lycra when bike riding for practical reasons not for looks. Of course when I rode I always put a pair of old shorts over the top to deal with the look

Both the J and F currently have big "90 Years of flying" (or maybe service) on them in commemoration of the event so they are limited editions!

Damn won't be flying international J till June so will probably miss out on those.
