Silly question , but does anyone know what happens to the pyjamas that people wear and discard ? Are they laundered and packed up and put out for use again, or do they throw them away?

They are thrown away

Same for amenity packs

Cleaners only keep anything that hasn't been used. So amenity packs or PJ's still in their plastic wrap.

In economy in order to cut back on waste, they don't come in plastic wrap so there is a silver seal, and gets broken when you open the kit. If the seal is still intact the cleaners keep it.

I keep the PJs either for me, for either Dad (he reckons they're better than the ones he buys) or I give them to Vinnies.

I use mine either for painting (less hot to wear than overalls) or I take them on flights where they don't give PJs (and by that I mean long haul on other carriers rather than SYD-MEL ;)).

One "issue" I have with QF in J is that unless you ask for the PJs on boarding they don't get handed out until a fair way into the flight. I prefer to be PJ'd within 2 mins of boarding...

I have always had them handed prior to take-off. Recent repeat samples on QF15/16 and QF29.

I think it just depends on how busy the crew are immediately prior to take off.

I take mine home for the kids, they love them, especially the Qantas Anniversary set I got on my last trip with the big Red Kangaroo right across the front.

+1 v.annoying, last time I asked for mine on boarding SYD-HKG the FA asked me to step down to the galley with her and conspiratorially handed them to me incase the other passengers would see and follow my lead. I think they want everyone in their seats quaffing the bubbly

I have over 3 draws of them now. Im at the point now where I dont wear them and give them to friends (still in the plastic). doesnt feel right to give out a pair i have worn

BTW, refuse to give out the Emirates first PJ's, they are too good

Yeah I’m with you. I had a small collection of QF F PJs (never bothered keeping the J ones...such a snob) but once I saw the EK ones I got rid of the QF ones. The EK ones are a bit heavier and feel more substantial.

Flying QF F soon for the first time - are the PJs any good ... also what about the amenity pack ..... just a little excited !!!!!! :D .

IMO F PJ's are better design but I've found they don't wash all that well.

Not sure whether the amenity pack has changed but apart from the colour of the pack itself, I haven't seen too much difference. The problem is that they are (were) bulky which makes it a bit hard if you have a few flights before you can pack them away.

I think the F PJs are better for other flights as well as they dont have the massive kangaroo emblazoned on them...

board the plane, take PJ's off seat and change before anyone else can use the WC. More than anything, enjoy the experience and consider their tasting menu for your meal.

Thanks coeash and simongr , was glad today to find QF had won the best wine cellar in the sky so i will look forward to making use of the PJs at some point ;)

The current F ones have a small Roo on the left.

Both the J and F currently have big "90 Years of flying" (or maybe service) on them in commemoration of the event so they are limited editions!
