Should I go for WP+Partner Gold or remain WP only?

G'day guys,

I am 310 SC's away from reaching Partner Gold, and currently have a few domestic red e-deals booked prior to my status requalification period in two months.

I am debating whether or not qualifying once more for WP+PG is worth it (another Fiji status run will do it). Does WP+PG offer me greater benefits than WP (in terms of operational upgrades, seating allocation etc)? Having had WP+PG for the past three years I often think it does because I have had an enormous number of Op Ups domestically and internationally.

My wife won't be flying individually this year at all until December, so the Gold Status for her isn't really an issue. I have a few domestic flights intermittently throughout the year, but my wife and I are planning either a DONE4 or a trip to the USA via Japan in J at the end of the year, so perhaps the WP+PG may be handy?

I am interested to know your thoughts. BTW I am about 2000 SC's away from Lifetime Gold so that is something I also want to achieve within the next two years.

Thanks,
DB.

Simple. Stay WP. PG gives you no better chance if op-ups than WP - it simply gives your wife SG. If she is nit flying, then it is a waste.

Although you can now get 50000 Pts instead which might be good? But not worth the money if a Fiji status run.

My wife has had SG through my PG for a year and has never used it because she flies on cheaper DJ fares if by herself!

It seems the only advantage might be the 50% status bonus on the points for your trip at the end of the year. You could make an estimate if the extra points that will get and then decide if it is worthwhile. I assume that the PG will be achieved under the old rules @2100SC. The 50000 points bonus requires 2400SC. If my assumption is correct then you'd be looking at another 610 SC to get the 50000 points.

I suppose another benefit would be the extra guest spots if traveling with other non-status people.

Really you need to decide if the value is there. If I had a decent DONE planned then I would probably do it. A US trip via japan and I'm not sure.

You can still get PG at 2100 SC's until May, to get the 50k bonus points you need 2400.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I will think about it and make a decision within the next week. As you've said the 50% bonus for my wife on the DONE4 would be good... unless I purchase her ticket with points. The money could also go towards a status run in the USA.

I miss how SC's used to just accumulate so quickly when I flew regularly on previous projects!! :p

Go for it is my two bobs worth! Move to the next level of achievement then!

I have decided to go for it as Gold Status will be valuable for my wife if we get into any dramas overseas with flight cancellations during winter on the planned RTW trip!
