Hi all,

(Special mention to those in QLD facing Yasi at the moment.)

I booked a return flight on QF in Y+ from MEL-DFW (MEL-SYD-DFW-BNE-MEL) online on 17 Jan and paid the $25 booking deposit, and then paid the remainder on 19 Jan, which was the due date. (This was the special they had when they announced the launch of the DFW service.)

I noticed that I didn't get the eticket email for a few days, and then forgot about it. I still haven't received that email, but the booking shows up online in MYB, and I've selected seats. They've also been emailing me regularly to supply my Advance Passenger Information.

I've just checked my credit card online, and they haven't charged me. And checking my seating in MYB again, my earlier choices have gone. (Luckily I was still able to select J seats, although not my preferred window for one flight.) But everything else seems correct, as if the fare is paid for.

It could just be problems with the new route, but still, I'm very bamboozled. More to the point, I'm not sure what I should do now. Will Qantas realise the mistake, and ask me to pay? Will it be the same fare as when I originally booked? And if I wait for them to contact me, could they remove my seat allocation again and make me miss out on a J seat?

I'd love to hear if anyone's had anything like this before, and what your suggested course of action is. (I'm secretly hoping to get the flights for just the $25 deposit, but that seems highly unlikely. Moderators, please delete this message if you think it compromises that chance!)

Thanks,

Tim.

It sounds as though you have yet to complete the Advance Passenger Information part of your booking. This should have been adverted to in the emails to which you refer. Alternatively, logging on and checking your booking should produce an alert in a nice shade of orangey yellow. ;)

But that doesn't explain why they haven't charged my credit card does it, surely?

Hop onto checkmytrip.com and chuck in your booking ref.

You should get something like this...

In my booking here, there is an e-ticket number which has been issued to my booking ref.

Going from what I've seen so far, QF only issue the e-ticket number once everything is hunky dory, if there isn't one under your booking it is usually because either the payment hasn't been processed yet or QF require more info (Most likely API in your case, but I don't know how that works as I've never had to do it before :().

On the other hand if you have an e-ticket no. there, you may well have got it for $25, don't hold your breath though ;)

I'll pass over to someone else now....

Thanks folks. I've now done the API. CMT hasn't been updated yet, but I expect it will follow in the next day or two, presumably when QF does the ticketing and sends the eticket.

I had to reselect my seats -- hopefully they'll stay selected this time.

Do ensure you ring QF and enquire if you don't get the email within a day or two, there may be another issue which is preventing your reservation from becoming ticketed.

Don't panic; I booked two of these; the first 'ticketed' after 4 days and the second one only 'ticketed' yesterday. I did APIS strait away in each case.

Once ticketed you will receive the email with the e-ticket number.

If in doubt, look your booking up on www.checkmytrip.com; that will show the ticket number if it has been ticketed.

If you look your booking Qantas.com/yourbooking, if not ticketed only the [

Option appears.

Once ticketed you should get the [

Options as well.

I recently booked one of these SYD-DFW Y+ RtN specials. APIS must be completed before ticketing will take place. There is also a known issue (or there was, may have been fixed by now) with the QF website accepting the APIS info. It appears to submit but you don't get a confirmation screen and when you log back in it shows that you haven't submitted it. I called and sorted it on the phone, tickets were issued a day later. If you don't have your etickets yet then a call to QF is in order to get it sorted ASAP.

Cheers

I've booked a J ticket in June and have selected 4k.
Does anyone know if the first seats are nice on this plane?

Also the exit row seats 16ABJK upstairs were showing as red to pay the $160 is that common? On my flights to SIN and LHR I was automatically allocated those seats.

Cheers

Thanks serfty; everything's looking good now.

My credit card account isn't showing the transaction yet, but the adjustment has been made in "available funds", so it should appear tomorrow.

So, the end result of all of this is that for my flights that had a "pay later" due date of 19 Jan, I've actually paid on 3 Feb, or 15 days later. This could be a handy trick if you'd like to push your flight costs into your next credit card statement period. But since it depends on the need to collect APIS information, it only works for flights to the LOTFAP.
