(Special mention to those in QLD facing Yasi at the moment.)
I booked a return flight on QF in Y+ from MEL-DFW (MEL-SYD-DFW-BNE-MEL) online on 17 Jan and paid the $25 booking deposit, and then paid the remainder on 19 Jan, which was the due date. (This was the special they had when they announced the launch of the DFW service.)
I noticed that I didn't get the eticket email for a few days, and then forgot about it. I still haven't received that email, but the booking shows up online in MYB, and I've selected seats. They've also been emailing me regularly to supply my Advance Passenger Information.
I've just checked my credit card online, and they haven't charged me. And checking my seating in MYB again, my earlier choices have gone. (Luckily I was still able to select J seats, although not my preferred window for one flight.) But everything else seems correct, as if the fare is paid for.
It could just be problems with the new route, but still, I'm very bamboozled. More to the point, I'm not sure what I should do now. Will Qantas realise the mistake, and ask me to pay? Will it be the same fare as when I originally booked? And if I wait for them to contact me, could they remove my seat allocation again and make me miss out on a J seat?
I'd love to hear if anyone's had anything like this before, and what your suggested course of action is. (I'm secretly hoping to get the flights for just the $25 deposit, but that seems highly unlikely. Moderators, please delete this message if you think it compromises that chance!)
