What do you guys think? Better than the new woolies card?

Looks like a response to the WOW card. I've been with ANZ for a while now. My response is to leave them since loyalty gets you nothing but in 6 months time it gets you bonus points sign on:)

Perhaps this is so from a bonus points point of view. From a card point of view, it doesn't seem to offer anything worthwhile (aside from the 1.5 FF per dollar on the Plat Amex card) for the price it is offered at.

Is there a minimum spend to get the bonus points?

$95 for 20,000 points isn't too bad.

I had an ANZ ff credit card but cancelled it in July. I'm thinking I might come back to them for the 20k points. Does anyone know if i would qualify as a new customer as I haven't had an account with them since july or is it too soon?

Whilst the points per $ on the standard FF card (VC 0.5/$1; AMEX 1/$1) isn't that great an incentive to take out the card, the 20,000 bonus points for $95 is worthwhile.

There is now an additional promotion for double points in the first 3 months making the card actually worth using once in a while.

A nice addition, I'd say.

In the last 3 weeks I've applied for the Woolies card, Amex Platinum Edge, and ANZ FF.

I've been approved for all 3 and have received 2 of them.

So, cost and benefits so far:

Woolies. $89 for 16,000 QFF points. I will use this card for it's 1:1 QFF earn, around $60,000 p.a.

Amex Platinum Edge. $149 for return DJ flight, 20,000 MR points (worth at least $200), and domestic & International travel insurance. I have already redeemed the DJ flights, value $324. I will use this card for the travel insurance and free flights.

ANZ FF. This is a cough pair of cards but 20,000 QFF points for $95 is a bargain. Will use the Amex card once or twice to ease my conscience.

This offer has been extended to 28 Feb 2011.

The orginal link still works.

This does seem like a good offer. I could do with another 20,000 FF points :)

Now that makes 4 or 5 c/cards I've joined just to get points lol...

Yay! I applied 2 January hoping it would sneak in and they approved it yesterday. Soon as the points are in the bag I'll just cancel it. ANZ lost me years ago

Mmm. Might have to look at this. 20K QFF for 95$ eh? Thats better than the Woolies card at $89 for 16K so long as its all about the points bonus and you don't actually want to use the card.

Given giftcards at the QFF site are about 100$=14500 points, your 20K would be worth 137.93 right up. With flight redemptions worth at least 1c/point its more like $200 of value..

20K points is worth $557.50 according to QFF themselves if you want to 'top them up' hahaha.

I've heard that applying for too many credit cards, whether you are accepted or not, can burn your rating somehow though? Hard to imagine it affects your actual credit rating, but maybe the banks are on the watch for churning customers????

Just wondering...do you guys not worry that applying for many credit cards within a relatively short period of time affects yoiur credit rating, esp when you want to get a home loan etc? This stops me from applying for more cards (for the sign up points), having already got a Citibank Plat card, 28 degrees card, Amex Plat card and Diners (doesn't really count as it is a charge card)

Not according to the blurb on the ANZ website. The points are transferred upon 'activation' of the card ... whatever that means, I need to read the fine print.

No I don't worry too much about affecting my credit rating ;) As far as I'm concerned, as long as I pay everything on time and if the time comes for credit/loan then someone out there will lend me something. After all there's like a zillion brokers and lenders out there anyway (willing to have your business)

With cards that have bonus points etc, try and go for the lowest limit possible, and then cancel the card once you no longer need it.

That's the key, remember to cancel card before anniversary so you dint get charged another annual fee

i activated my card 2 and a half months ago... still no points. they did say within 6 months the points would be transffered. anyone have any luck getting the points out of ANZ or have problems at all?

Hmmm interesting - I activated my card on Dec 18 - used it once on Dec 24 to tune $42.50 - paid out total owing incl fees on Jan 10 - and 20,000pts deposited last night showing date 04/02/2011.

NAB, EDR and now ANZ - total 56,000 pts for approx $700 - gotta love that - what a shame they are not KF pts - would almost get me J saver to China and back.

Hmm. Still umming and ahhing over whether to go for this one. The actual card(s) don't look even a little bit exciting. I doubt I'd use it to buy more than a bottle of milk and even then only to activate the damn thing and get at the free points. For me then its just a cheap way to buy 20,000 points.

$95 = 20K points = 0.48c / point

If we value QFF points somewhere between giftcard redemption (0.5c /point) and domestic J redemption (3.5c/point) then the value is somewhere between $100 - $700.

2.5c / point seems like a reasonable minimum redemption rate if you are somewhat careful choosing the flight, so maybe $500 as an average likely redemption. $405 value over the cost of the card then....

Is there much of a common view on the upside/downside of churning cards for no reason other than to buy cheap FF points? ie; Is this likely to lead you down a road of future applications being denied?
