I would expect FRA as well, of course then you have issues with baggage potentially going missing as well lol.

Just checking my travel insurance policy now to make sure I am covered.

Generally speaking I don't think compensation wise you're entitled to anything when there is issues due to weather, think back to the volcano saga....

I think QF will generally try for FRA, BA could be anywhere - but I suspect FRA as well. The diversions today for SQ were to FRA and ZRH.

Hmm I have the Westpac KF Platinum cover and it does indicate that reasonable costs are covered due to "unforeseen circumstances outside of my control" it doesnt cover for pandemics or endemics but seems ok on other natural disasters.

Not a great time to be travelling with 7 aircraft now at least 24 hours delayed, with the three on the ground at LHR stuck, OJT at FRA and now the out bound flights have been held at SIN and BKK, interesting that QF9 repositioned to BKK ex SIN.

Actually, it's just snow and it happens a lot in the UK - certainly not an "Extraordinary circumstance" so compensation may arguably be payable.

Note that the carrier must still pay to feed and house you - irrespective of the cause of the delay.

Re: Heathrow currently closed -giving the trains a go.

OK we were told QF29 may not leave FRA until tonight so we have decided to take the express ICE to Brussels then Eurostar to London meaning we will get to London 7pm tonight, currently on the train, feels a bit like we are on the amazing race!

QF have been absolutely amazing, even that it was clearly beyond their control.

QF agent at the hotel said QF would reimburse some of the train ticket costs, has anybody had any experience with this type of thing?

Shhh, don't tell NoNews we wouldn't want that to get out!

The Sky News headlines were saying "1400 Qantas passengers stranded in Heathrow'' showing a QF A380 at a snow covered airport. I'm thinking gee that's amazing BA, SQ & EK haven't had any problems.

Then when the bulletin gets to the main story it then says merely "over 1,000 passengers stranded at Heathrow Airport....."

Nothing like still trying to wring out every last drop of QF A380 drama is there???

Skum (sky) news and no news are in the same bucket of sensationalised rubbish 'news'...

No doubt the QF A380 somehow caused the snow as well...

I am at Singapore now after coming in on SQ222, SQ322 has been delayed by 3 hours to a 02.45am departure.

Being told that Heathrow is still closed, I have added LHR to my twitter feed now to stay in touch.

Heathrow is still closed to arrivals and there are limited departures. I have seen a VS A346 and a BA 744 take off. BA has canceled all short hauls for today (Sunday). There will most likely be further delays tomorrow as there is more snow forecast for tonight, tomorrow and Tuesday.

I just landed in BKK from SYD on BA10 and we are stuck here until further notice ... sigh... I would be happy to get to europe anywhere.

Our 17:59 Eurostar train has been cancelled but we have a boarding pass for the next one????, the 18:59 train has been delayed 50 mins :-| We are in the business lounge so that is a good sign......

The Eurostar terminal is heaving.

For my first cold Christmas it's been an exciting adventure  let's hope London is our resting place this evening and not the Eurostar terminal

It's much better today, but the tube was utterly useless yesterday. It took me 30 minutes to travel one stop yesterday (thankfully I didn't need to go any further). Buses are much better today and are generally on time.

Sorry for all the updates but I have nothing else do to but drink and login

Here is the latest from Eurostar:

Due to infrastructure issues on the French network caused by severe weather conditions, Eurostar is now operating a contingency timetable which may result in some last minute cancellations.

"Due to infrastructure issues on the french network because of the severe weather conditions Eurostar 9030, 9039, 9148, 9153, 9045 and 9046 have been cancelled for today Sunday 19 December. Customers will be able to travel on the first available train. If you are booked to travel today and cannot or do not wish to travel you will be eligible for a refund, or to exchange your tickets in the next 60 days for travel in the next 90 days.

If you do need to travel, please arrive at the station 1 hour before the advertised departure time. You will be placed on the next available train. Please only come to the station if you have a confirmed booking for today"

Will I be stranded? I should do a poll
