QF A380 Cabin - which section/seat is best?

Any thoughts on the Y Bulkhead row (right - 51H/G) vs 66x etc?

Tossing up whether to run with this or purchase an exit seat. 80/71 options all gone! :)

As a QF Silver and now Gold, I've been auto allocated the 51G and H previously (and shall be doing so at the end of August to LHR).

Overall I've found the seats to be the same as a bulkhead, though very little mingling traffic like in 66 because it's the front of whY class.

There can be a little bit of noise from the F class galley and staff entering/exiting the bunks. But considering that you leave the flight as soon as F get off it helps with the dash to immigration at LHR or LAX.

Personally I'd keep the money in your pocket.

How about legroom comparisons? I'm 6ft, so a pretty important element.

I've sat in 80A + 79B thus far in the QF380 which have been great.

I'm 1.78cm and have found both to be good. G gives you the ability to stick your legs on bulkhead for elevation where as H has a good amount of room (but without elevation) due to the crew seat locate some distance from your feet.

Just had a look through this thread and nobody has mentioned row 50, it is coming up as a leg space seat. Anybody any experience? I have selected 80K at the moment but if 50 gets the thumbs up I will move, I like to be of the aircraft fast

I'd go as far forward as I could. The closer you are to the centre of the aircraft, the less it moves in any turbulence (and the sooner you can get off).

Personally I'd take 50C over 80K. (I'm sure 50A is pretty good, but I just prefer an aisle seat.) Leg room is fine for me I'm 5'11". *

*This advice comes with a warning though! I would also sit in 51C over 80K, and have done so previously....well for a couple of hours before an onboard op up to J, but that is another story! What does this say about me? Yes I am insane! I'd rather spend 14 hours with limited leg room, and a seat reclined into my face so that I can get of the plane 20 mins earlier!!!

Don't give up on the other good seats. I leave for LAX on Friday, and have checked the seating each day for the last 4 weeks - got 71D about 3 weeks ago SYD-LAX, then got 71D lax-syd 10 days ago, and just moved from 71D to 80a yesterday.
I more than happy at the moment.

I did exactly the same on my recent LHR-MEL... 71D upon ticket purchase and then 80A at T-80. Best. Economy Seat. Ever. I had a blow-up ottoman, so was able to stretch out very comfortably indeed. People kept stopping and asking how I scored the seat.

I'm a super big fan of 80A as well. Was SO SO comfortable for the whole trip.

And yeah - people are very jealous.

However - I do like the idea of getting off the plane earlier, so am in pains trying to figure out whether to go for 80A, 50C or 66D/G on my next flight......

Same here... Sorry, may sound like a stupid question but I have never been on a 380 before... Is 80A the same as 80K?

ergh, you're just reminding me of what I missed out on for my flight home from the USA last week. :( I selected 80A 7 months in advance, but a long delay of QF108 meant I missed my flight, and got crammed in a seat down the back of a 744. Unlikely Ill get the chance to book that seat again too given my NB status.

On the upside, some lucky bugger got the seat at the last minute!

I did mention it on another thread:

http://www.australianfrequentflyer....khead-seats-on-the-a380-32342.html#post477815

We experienced the joys of 50B/C SIN-LHR with baby (mum in 50A) and LHR-SIN without baby (150cm Singapore resident lady in 50A).

The former was Ok; well behaved child, but that can go "pear shaped" on any given day.

The latter was great.

I think the front row bassinet may be the last one allocated unless a WP needs one.

For two people travelling together it is a risk, but the reward is high too.

One thing to note that if the bassinet is set up, then it's quite difficult for 50A/B PAX to get out.

I am not a huge fan of 80K but have it pre-allocated for a flight in 4 days time.

What throws me off row 50 is 50C, 52D, 52G and 51H are all bassinets and while most flights may be OK there is no way I want to get stuck there with all of the bassinets taken. Admittedly 81D and 81G are also bassinets but hopefully not so bad as only 2 bassinets.

Is there enough room to actually exit out the front of 80A/K??

Yep, you just stand up and walk forward out of the seat.
They are actually better than 71D, which has the extra space in front, but everyone walking up and down the isle decides to use the space in front of the seat when they want to pass someone!
Also 71E has to crawl past you when they want to get out.
I love the idea of an inflatable ottoman used by lawlass - I think thats a scream and would certainly "stake your claim" on the space!!!!!

I also like all the people who look at the seat as they pass when boarding and make comments like "wow you were lucky"! I'm not lucky - I have coveted this seat for the last 3 month or whatever!

I have 50A (Mrs munitalP) and 50C (Mr munitalP) SYD/LAX in a couple of weeks. the B seat has shown free on my QF "choose you seat" and I am keeping my fingers crossed otherwise some hasty reshuffling onboard.

Question - is there any leg room? 23ABC to be avoided at all cost on A330 - is A380 the same, or can a normal height person actually stretch their legs out - A330, I can't and find this extremely uncomfortable.
