Good to see the Australian App Store now up and running - the balance in my US account was starting to run low.

Yup, I noticed it come up last Thursday night! Yay! And iBooks was finally released yesterday ...

This seemed the appropriate thread for this… apparently there’s an app out now that allows you to use your iPad a second screen to extend your existing screen. Works on wifi, so isn’t good for movies, but is good for palettes in photoshop and chat windows and stuff like that.

AFAIK, Australia and NZ telcos are almost unique in limiting data.

And also unique in having only a limited set of pipes (undersea cables) connecting them to the rest of the world

It has been an eye opener on the cost differences between California and Australia for internet use. In California we pay a bit extra for highest speed and then there is no quantity limit....just a monthly fee.
We will use an IPAD from late June because at 60 the I Phone is just too small for 60 year old eyes.

Took one of the roopaw-ettes to see the iPad this afternoon. Very nice looking unit and seriously tempting for the 14 yr old.

The screen is very clear and I could make out the icon labels etc without my glasses.

It's a little heavier than I thought it would be, but then I have a Viao X Series, so everything seems heavy compared to it.

Misinformation abounds though. The Apple agency told us that it will print to any Windows network shared printer. It won't, at least without extra software.

JB told us that it will run Flash. It won't.

Miss roopaw is conflicted: iPad or laptop, so we came away empty handed.

You must be talking about the myairnz portal, of which I have to agree with you. Real dumb idea that they didn't give non-Flash users a way out.

I actually like the look of myairnz in safari (windows 7 based) I would actually like to see QF or DJ do something similar, being able to add stuff I want to see and take out what I don't is a good thing for me.

Shame the ipad doesn't have flash support, otherwise there might have been one in my hands right now, but the money will go towards pumping my laptop up to 4gb ram and my MEL trip in 2 weeks

I don’t see why they couldn’t write an app, or at least do the same thing but with another web technology, sort of like iGoogle, but a little bit nicer on the eyes.

Get yourself an Airpoints membership or just fire up www.myairnz.co.nz and you will see ... (or not see on an iPad ...).

I think the OneWorld RTW planner uses Flash. Haven't ever used it to make an actual booking, but fun to play with.

I have booked a DONE4 using the OW Tool, and while it's a wonderful tool, it does suffer from the lackluster performance of Flash.

True, but it only affects the 'Prices by Travel Date' function - everything else works fine.

To be honest, I agree with the concept of having the choice to use Flash - but I guess I don't care so much that it's missing because I have Flash blocked on every browser I use in any case, so rarely notice.

It's not like we can get Hulu here or anything like that as it is!
