Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

At many airports but not all, CNS insisted it be removed when I went through last month.

It's consistently inconsistent. I've left it in my bag various times thru PER MEL and SYD and not had anything said. Other times it goes through and they say 'sorry sir your iPad has to go through separately that's the rules'.

If only things could be applied consistently...

Meant to post this a few weeks ago, glad to see the accessory makers are catching up with the new power standard and making spare chargers that work with the iPAD including car adaptors, neither of my two notebooks support the high power requirement through their USB ports.

I have been through PER, HKG, NRT, DFW, IAH, EWR with the iPad and not had to pull it for screening. I will be reversing this flow in a couple of weeks so will be interested to see if anything has changed.

Only place I've ever had to pull it out is BNE (domestic and international).

Until a couple of days ago, when I was made to take it out in Helsinki (they also found a tiny tube of tooth paste in the CX amenities bag that was hidden inside a little pocket and that I missed when I cleansed the bag and moved all the liquids/gels into my plastic bag).

edit: I actually asked once why it needed to be removed, and they said that the XRay machine can't see through it. Not sure whether to believe that or not.

Jeez - I have been religiously removing iPad every screening just cause I thought I needed to.

Off to SIN on Thur morn will leave that Focker in the bag and see what happens.

As an aside I purchased a fake Mac Book Air in Beijing 3 months ago for $400 which I now use for all o/s travel - 13in / 2 x USB / data port - no internal DVD - but it works a treat - now only take iPad occasionally.

The biggest drawback is that it is pretty much tied to the outside world via iTunes and has no Finder. Sure, there are files stored on it somewhere, but you have only the most tangential access to them.

But, on the whole, I love my iPad.

Just to question this. I know the finder doesnt search for files within most apps but is it really that hard?

If I want a word document - I open "DocsToGo" and all my word docs are there. If I want a video file I open "Videos" and so on. I can search for media files through the search function as well.

What I can't do is search for books through the finder - but I just open Books.

I would prefer it to be easier to manage documents rather than through iTunes - but if that meant giving something else up then I am not sure it would be a simple swap...

I 'll be looking forward to doing a proof of concept on the ipad for our field staff. All of our applications live in the cloud and this could be an easy way to get them onto the apps without having to carry a netbook. They already use iPhone so should be an easy transition.

One very big issue is security of the iPad so we'll be interested to see how protected the data can be on, to and from this device.

I'll be in the CA in April, I wonder what my chances are of picking up a 3G iPad?
I use Comic Life to do "social stories" (basically comics featuring him in different situations). Being able to do these on the go (and show them to him without the need for the computer or printer)

I pulled my ipad out of the bag and stuck it on top of the laptop. They had to pull the laptop out and put it on a second tray and re scan it. So perhaps there is some thruth to the ipad not being see through.
