QF WP requested 1x CR Y MEL-CBR on 01 Feb - rejected. Requested 02 Feb approved. Now have the luxury/pleasure of spending a day in MEL, right after I come out international from MAA.

Manual review is only an option as P1 as far as I know. Usually the do it automatically if the computer say no

A P1 manual review in my experience usually happens very quickly. If you put the request in on a weekday in the morning they will look at it that afternoon. If you do it on a Friday arvo or weekend it will get looked at first thing on Monday. If you do it on a weekday arvo it will be looked at the next morning.

The catch is that they don’t send you the email to let you know that it’s been looked at until 24-48 hours (which is the time they say it takes for a response).

You just need to go into your booking and if it says confirmed you know that it’s been approved and if it still says requested it’s been denied

That's true. Might go the domestic J lounge for a shower & meal before heading into the city. Already booked 2 meetings in the city on 01 Feb, so would be nice to get going asap.

I tried a few options and got F to DFW in mid feb.

Trip home is showing F9 and I9 for every flight for a week but everything has come back no.

Same, although my request was earlier, and eventually got mid-March as the earliest they could release.

Requested CR release (on Friday 16th) MEL to CDG QF33 via SYD and PER for 2 March it was declined but after a manual review , They have come back and said they can release CR J on 27th Feb QF33 SYD-PER-CDG in J.. .. (I havnt asked them yet if they can also include MEL to SYD for same points..) they know Im based in MEL and that was my original request..

I look through seats aero the whole year and options are quite limited, like almost nothing interesting, for classic flight rewards...

I called at like 12pm Sunday and got what I presume was Hobart. Unless there just happened to be a highly competent Aussie expat in the Cape Town call centre that day. Ironically the last three mid-week calls I have made have got me overseas call centres - Manila I think. And very helpful each time I might add though.
