So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

I despise EV's and the number of CCP produced garbage ones that are appearing everywhere.

I need a wagon/large SUV, but prefer a wagon. So option are limited

If I wanted to spend another $60k I'd have a good look at the Audi Q6 E-Tron though
I think EVs are an environmental disaster. In concept a good idea but reality is something else. The 4 Corners program showing the environmental devestation wreaked upon regions of Indonesea to supply demand for Chinese EV makers should have everyone sitting up and taking notice. Not to mention the human rights violations of a reclusive island tribe on nearby islands.
I think China is producing so many makes and models that there will be no support for a Chinese EV after 3-5 yrs. Watch your insurance premiums rocket when you cannot buy body parts anymore for the model you bought on lease is no longer supplied.

folks have been brainwashed to believe in the environmentally dirty ev's…. et tu brute
I enjoyed the class action payout which was $xx,xx_ even though the scam made little or no difference to the value of the car. 🤣.

Fantastic concept and they should be compulsory to hold a drivers licence.
But it would be a little boring in (as Jeremy would say) a "reasonably priced car".

What does Indonesian nickel got to do with EV?

Most of the nickel is for stainless steel production
Relatively little is used for EV batteries and most EV batteries coming out of China are LFP chemistry which does not contain nickel

We like road trips and prefer not to plan a trip around somewhere to plug in every 5 minutes
I drove from Sydney to Tamworth and charged the car for 10 minutes at Hollydene wines. Not even enough time to wee and buy a coffee.
i could have made it without charging but there is the inconvenient bladder range.
When i got to Tamworth charge for 10 minutes as well for a little topup.

I can drive from Sydney to Brisbane without refuelling

Public charging infrastructure will always be an issue for ev's.
They break down and are not repaired for months , some folks park their ICE in them , some folks hog them and some folks must sit and wait and wait…..
Why do it ? it may save a peso here and there but the savings are not worth the inconvenience risk.

A 5 minute bladder stop can never be compared to the stress of attempting to find an operating and available charge point, let alone considering if it might also have food and coffee nearby

My next car will be an EV but it'll 99% local suburban runs.

Will charge from excess solar at home and office

Wish there was a zeekr 7x but smaller

Yeahb looking forward to the new G6, let's see.

I do like the air suspension and auto doors in the 7x.

No rush to buy....till FBT on EVs ends :p
My troc is fine till then

Xiaomi and nio EVs don't look like they are coming anytime soon here

yeah agreed. chucking on the brakes when going at ~150km/hr in the etron-gt was something of an experience!
I did a workplace driving refresher course recently. It started with a theory session on which road rules *don't* apply to us and why.

The practical session was fun - no pesky civilians getting in the way. And to the other person whose car I used - sorry about the brake smell when I gave it back. ;)
