Looking for some advice from anyone who's stayed at island resorts in Fiji. Heading over in early August 2026 and trying to finalise accommodation.

Here's what I've got planned:

Current Itinerary:

  • Day 1-2: Sofitel Fiji (2 nights) - using my ALL suite night upgrades
  • Day 3-6: Island resort (4 nights) - need help deciding!
  • Day 7: Sofitel Fiji (1 night, base room) - taking advantage of the Fiji Airways resort check-in for our 8am departure on day 8
I've narrowed it down to two adults-only resorts, but the pricing is making me question everything:

Option 1: Tokoriki Island Resort

  • $2,000+/night = ~$8,000 for 4 nights
  • With Citi Prestige 4th night benefit via Luxury Escapes: ~$7,000
  • #1 rated on TripAdvisor, everyone raves about it
  • Looks absolutely stunning

Option 2: Tropica Island Resort
  • $5,400 for 4 nights (beachside bure with pool)
  • With Citi Prestige 4th night benefit: ~$4,400
  • Still adults-only, good reviews (4 stars...maybe)
  • Doesn't look quite as luxurious as Tokoriki
  • Would save $2,600 vs Tokoriki
My Questions:
  1. Has anyone stayed at either resort? Is Tokoriki worth the extra $2,600 over Tropica?
  2. Are there other adults-only island resorts I should be considering in a similar price range?
  3. For those who've done the split-stay approach (mainland + island), did you find it worth the hassle vs just staying at Sofitel the whole time?
I'm an Accor Platinum, so getting good value at Sofitel with executive lounge access and Waitui Beach Club access makes me wonder if we should stay there for all 7 nights and do day trips instead. But we really want that authentic island experience.

Any thoughts or experiences would be much appreciated!

I've stayed twice at Tokoriki Island Resort.

It's absolutely top notch.

The setting is immaculate. The accommodation is beautiful and private. The food is terrific.

And of course, the staff are fantastic.

Sounds incredible. I’m just a bit nervous because I’ve never spent that amount on accommodation before.

I’m probably comparing it to Vietnam, which we loved last year and going again in March. The entire 2-week Vietnam holiday was the equivalent of 2 nights at Tokoroki!

Approximately how much a day would you budget for food on Tokoroki?

There is a food plan option, I think. That would be somewhere on their website?

But I see there are rates that include all meals. The meals are really very good.

There are not too many other options. There is a smallish shop selling some things including snacks. And you can walk to the Sheraton next door which has a bigger shop and cheaper dining options. But that's about it. It's an isolated island.
