Looking for some advice from anyone who's stayed at island resorts in Fiji. Heading over in early August 2026 and trying to finalise accommodation.

Here's what I've got planned:

Current Itinerary:

  • Day 1-2: Sofitel Fiji (2 nights) - using my ALL suite night upgrades
  • Day 3-6: Island resort (4 nights) - need help deciding!
  • Day 7: Sofitel Fiji (1 night, base room) - taking advantage of the Fiji Airways resort check-in for our 8am departure on day 8
I've narrowed it down to two adults-only resorts, but the pricing is making me question everything:

Option 1: Tokoriki Island Resort

  • $2,000+/night = ~$8,000 for 4 nights
  • With Citi Prestige 4th night benefit via Luxury Escapes: ~$7,000
  • #1 rated on TripAdvisor, everyone raves about it
  • Looks absolutely stunning

Option 2: Tropica Island Resort
  • $5,400 for 4 nights (beachside bure with pool)
  • With Citi Prestige 4th night benefit: ~$4,400
  • Still adults-only, good reviews (4 stars...maybe)
  • Doesn't look quite as luxurious as Tokoriki
  • Would save $2,600 vs Tokoriki
My Questions:
  1. Has anyone stayed at either resort? Is Tokoriki worth the extra $2,600 over Tropica?
  2. Are there other adults-only island resorts I should be considering in a similar price range?
  3. For those who've done the split-stay approach (mainland + island), did you find it worth the hassle vs just staying at Sofitel the whole time?
I'm an Accor Platinum, so getting good value at Sofitel with executive lounge access and Waitui Beach Club access makes me wonder if we should stay there for all 7 nights and do day trips instead. But we really want that authentic island experience.

Any thoughts or experiences would be much appreciated!

I've stayed twice at Tokoriki Island Resort.

It's absolutely top notch.

The setting is immaculate. The accommodation is beautiful and private. The food is terrific.

And of course, the staff are fantastic.

Sounds incredible. I’m just a bit nervous because I’ve never spent that amount on accommodation before.

I’m probably comparing it to Vietnam, which we loved last year and going again in March. The entire 2-week Vietnam holiday was the equivalent of 2 nights at Tokoroki!

Approximately how much a day would you budget for food on Tokoroki?

There is a food plan option, I think. That would be somewhere on their website?

But I see there are rates that include all meals. The meals are really very good.

There are not too many other options. There is a smallish shop selling some things including snacks. And you can walk to the Sheraton next door which has a bigger shop and cheaper dining options. But that's about it. It's an isolated island.

I have stayed at Tokoriki, and I can confidently say you should absolutely go! The food is incredible, and they offer flexible meal plans either half board or full board. I chose the half board option, which included breakfast and dinner, and it worked perfectly since I was usually full after breakfast and only needed something light for lunch.
Tokoriki also offers a range of activities, so there’s never a dull moment. The staffs are amazing, friendly, attentive, and always happy to help. It truly makes the experience unforgettable.

We're planing 2 weeks in Fiji in late August 2026 - booked Vomo and Tokoriki. Just a comment on half/full board at resorts where this is an option - ask for the menus before making a decision - after looking over the Tokoriki a la carte menus we decided it was not worth it unless you always wanted a 3 course meal and then it's sort break-even. (Note Vomo rates are all-inclusive (except alcohol) so there's no decision to make).

We choose these 2 resort based on where we felt the snorkelling options would be the best (and based on comments from others who have been there).

Thanks for the advice. I've asked Tokoriki to send me the à la carte menus so I can get an idea of what meals cost based on what we would likely eat.

Vomo looks amazing, but it does not seem to be adults-only based on the reviews. My husband is allergic to children lol

Ok - just booked Tokoriki when I received an e-mail from Qantas Hotels that they have a 7* spend promotion. So essentially earned 77,000 QF points for booking - QF price was $AUD 300 more than booking direct BUT there was no credit charge surcharge (Vomo charged 3% surcharge which seems to be the norm in Fiji).

Has anyone stayed at Sheraton Tokoriki? I'm considering that as an alternative to the adults-only resort on Tokoriki because I can't justify the $9,000+ price tag for 4 nights.

It looks like Sheraton is much more affordable, about $500 to $800 a night, depending on the room category. The only downside is it won't be child-free, but I believe there's an adults-only section.

I've not stayed there but have visited a few times when I've stayed at Tokoriki Island Resort. You can walk between the two resorts.

It's more 4 star. And much bigger. I went to have to have a look at the Sheraton facilities and perhaps have a drink or lunch but ended up not doing either. It was simply poor service and it all looked a bit downmarket to me. It does have a much bigger convenience shop than TIR which might be handy.

TIR does tend to spoil you. If you first went to the Sheraton, you'd probably think it OK. I spoke with some Sheraton guests who came over to TIR for lunch or dinner and they seemed OK with it. And it's still on the same island.

Thanks, that's helpful information. I think I just have to really readjust my expectations if we stay at the Sheraton.

I think my budget for this trip is about $1,000 a night. I'm still looking at other options for the four nights off main island. The first two nights and the last night will be at the Sofitel, Fiji.

Wow, nothing can justify 2000$ a night splash for me.
Given you budget and preference for adult only, have you considered Oarsmans Bay Lodge in Yasawa islands? it is on a side of Nacula Island well protected from Trade winds, tranquil off-the-beaten-track adult-only retreat and it is breathtaking!
Read a reviews on Booking, cant be a wrong choice.

The Sheraton Tokoriki is not in the same league as the Sofitel on Denarau. As far a accommodation, facilities and service is concerned. It's down a star or two. But it's on beautiful Tokoriki island!

You can always walk over to TIR for lunch, dinner or drinks. Or perhaps stay 2 nights at each? I'd start with the Sheraton if you decided to do that. :) I did see that happen, I think. The Sheraton has buggies that sometimes were seen delivering guests to TIR.

Thanks for the recommendation. The reviews are certainly compelling. It's not high-end luxury, but I think it's a great compromise for our budget.

Exactly.
Also, if you are a bit more adventures, bigger Nakula island offers hiking opportunities on top of the ridge with stunning views, great snorkelling site Sawa-i-Lau Caves around the corner, and just a ferry ride itself from Denaru harbour along the Yasawa chain was an adventure itself.
Never had a dull moment during my stay there.
Note it has compulsory meal plan costs FJD 149 per day, per adult and its great
