Dumb question alert for the brains trust: Is it possible to make a standalone Qantas classic rewards booking with Emirates from Malta to Larnaca (Cyprus)? Either by calling Qantas, or somehow online.

I can't get Malta to appear as a destination unless I start with a multi-city first leg in Rome FCO, but the routing is bad (from Rome, to London, then on to Malta), and charges don't make it worth it.

We're more than 6m out from end of Mar.

I don't think redemptions are completely gone. It may be that it'll become 90days or 60days which we won't know until start of next year.
Seats were pretty much released daily, 2 or 3 x J and 1 x F for MEL-DXB like clockwork and then stopped a few months ago.

30/60 days is pointless for me as my holidays are booked 12 months out to get accommodation, car hire etc sorted

Aeroplan did have full access for a while as well, but that has now also been pulled as my searches now show nothing :(

Sad times

Yeah the days of using QF on EK are pretty much done now - This won't be fixed and has been enhanced....

I'm glad I managed to burn a good chunk of points on EK F and J LHR-DXB and then EK F and J DXB-MLE

2.6 million QFF going to waste now, will probably convert to toasters or gift cards in a year or so and apart from a recent woolies offer which got me 7.5K QFF for $400, I don't bother collecting QF points anymore.
Still plenty of options for premium CRs using QF points out there.

Yes, not as many on QF metal - which is cough. But the excessive EK imposed surcharges were a turnoff ages ago and probably why it was easy to get seats - now, no one else (other than AFFs / FTs) have even noticed…despite what effluencers are posting.

If that is the case then QF would be very hard done given they gave up QR to be in bed with EK.
The codeshare and partnership with Emirates is much more valuable to Qantas than F award availability. Qantas wants people to redeem points at 1c value not 4c+ on Emirates J or F.

Thats not true if its 30/60 day type situations. Ive had plenty of times where ive swapped my flights when better options opened up including additional EK F later.

Or NH J which often opens hp 2 weeks before the date. If we know what's going on, it can be planned around. You could easily monitor routes and EK award availability on it on EK and then if its a shorter booking window, snag it when QF opens for example.

So how do I get from AU to LHR/EU then - I don't see anything and I'm not flying Economy to Asia to start the trip
