30 NZD value on an AirNZ redemption or 79 NZD value on an Accor redemption... who is this appealing to? (cue jokes about people silly enough to engage in the Airpoints program)
Thinking the same.

Presumably only to people at the margins - if you had 2000 Accor points and no further plans to stay at a Accor property and were 30 Airpoints short of a redemption it might work.

But you can make a similar argument about any airline transfers. $71 AUD for 2500 QF points, not terrific value at 2.84c per point. Or even worse $71AUD for 2000 Velocity points or worse still 1000 KrisFlyer miles!!

100% agree with you on that. I guess the only upside is that the 2,000 points = €40 value has mostly held steady. With so many other brands devaluing over time, I do wonder if Accor will eventually jump on the bandwagon and start cutting the redemption rate too.

Accor room rates fluctuate so it can be an indirect devaluation.

The programs that tie their points to a specific value tend not to change that rate much. After all, cash is slowly devaluing over time as its value inflates away. A dollar today has less value than a dollar a year ago.....

There is a promotion intul the end of the month giving a 50% bonus; 2,000 Reward Points = 45 Air points Dollars.

Still cant see any value in NZD45 from €40 (NZD79).

There would be some sweet spots using them for partner awards I assume given the current promo
Eg SYD-SIN in J is 650 AP$ which is what 29k ALL or 580€ / $1000 AUD

Which if I haven’t buggered up the calcs isn’t too bad

SYD to SIN in economy is AP$550 (+130 taxes). Business would be AP$1100 (plus taxes) and that's if you can find availability on SQ business via Airpoints redemption portal.
