Australian Cricket Season 2024-2025

What was even more impressive was that he came in at 22/3 then was in the highest partnership of the innings with 89 for the 4th wicket with Usman.
Slightly better at 57/3 but soon after 65/4 then a century partnership for the 5th wicket. I agree he should have been MOTM.

Very sad to see this, ok, I would like Australia to win, but! Maybe it will shake up Windies cricket and hopefully, they will be a force again.

Will they get past the lowest ever score in test cricket?

Wow, losing a home Test series 3-0 is crushing. Got up at 6:30am and “watching” on ESPN CricInfo app as don’t have Kayo. Starc 6 for 9 and Boland hat-trick - awesome bowling. Watched the vids they gave out up so far.

Bowling was pre-eminent in this series. Batting disappointing. We gave some big questions to ask about our (opening) batting. The special K’s are on the chopping box.

But a win is a win.

That was a great series between England and India and I felt that a draw was a fair result. Siraj was a stand out bowler for India, especially with Bumrah not playing all 5 matches.

I think this will be a much closer Ashes series than in recent times. Cards on the table, I'm an England supporter despite having lived here for 10+ years. For all the Aussies batting woes I think England may struggle to take the 20 wickets they will need in at least 3 Tests. But the English batting line up is as settled as it's been for a while. If Root finally puts his stamp on a series in Australia and we see more fireworks from Brook then it could be interesting. Need to keep Stokes fit for his leadership.

I agree @Rebus that AUS bowlers v ENG batsmen will be the decisive battle this Ashes. Our batting woes will also be complemented by the relatively weak ENG bowling attack. But if ENG bat well, AUS will be on the receiving end of a hiding. If our bowlers dominate, our batsmen may just score enough runs to win. It is going to be a gripping series with AUS going in as slight underdogs.

You are joking. With the Aussie bowling attack on home decks they will start heavy favourites. Bazball batting may or may not work in Australia.
Definitely not joking and bazball may or may not work anywhere - that's a main feature of it. England has been setting and chasing down big 4th innings targets recently on not-very-english wickets. We've recently beaten weaklings thanks to strong bowling against inexperienced lineups and a blush saving middle order that papers over deficiencies that a better team will capitalise on. But who knows? Maybe the trends and form will be reversed. Maybe the ENG top order will consistently fail and ours won't.

Australia runs the risk of an ageing lineup
Batters who can’t see
Bowlers who get endless injuries
Keepers who drop too many easy takes

And it can all come on terribly suddenly (like it did to England following the last Ashes series)

What’s been interesting is Starc has dropped 10% pace and appears to still be in good nick
Lyons handed over the song lead to Carey
And the batters roll onto age 40
