I don't buy from merchants who don't list vintages.

Agree for anything RRP over $40 or so. For under that I am not sure vintage plays a huge role relative to consistency and experience of winery. Torbreck Woodcutters, Langmeil Valley Floor, etc pretty consistent year on year. Just my take.
While your examples might be valid (I don't have extensive experience with either) I don't agree with the generalisation. While many wineries produce decent or even very good wines from lesser vintages, they aren't as good as the ones from good vintages. One of the reasons for keeping a sizeable cellar and buying heaps from good vintages is to have plenty of good wine to drink without having to buy much from vintages that are not as good. The really dud vintages are thankfully quite few.
Yeah, I know, someone has to buy them and will likely enjoy them, but I don't have to and generally don't, apart from judicious buys for tasting group sessions.

On retailers that sell wine without clearly stating the vintage, I stay away just because its lazy on their side to do this. I'd rather reward retailers who put in a proper effort. With so many deals, mystery wines etc... on offer, its a buyers market. You can pass something up today knowing there is plenty more coming.

The chains generally can't do it because of their wide scale of operation and distributed fulfilment process - barcodes don't include vintage, hence my prior suggestion as to how they could do it for online sales.
Some other merchants can't/don't do it as they source the wine from distributers/wholesalers when you order. Or as you say, are just lazy/don't care, therefore not worthy of supporting.
I checked on vintage with Sense of Taste once on a very sharp-looking deal. Didn't get a reply, but the price jumped a couple of days later.

Midday Somewhere is free to sign up & collates the best deals around from the big chains, Langtons, Laithwaites, First Choice, Virgin, Dan's, BWS, VM etc but not independents such as Nicks, Different Drop

Includes a handy price history as a check on how sharp a deal might really be.

Default is one email per week which is a welcome change, too. 😃

What a nifty tool. Just used it to grab four bottles of 2019 Louis Latour Chassagne Montrachet at $61/btl, down from $195/btl, at DM.
