Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

Looks like last nights QF33 is departing again at 9pm tonight whereas the QF9 that diverted to SIN won’t leave Singapore until tomorrow morning bound for LHR.

SIN diversion and continue after rest period for QF9 (? +/- consideration of LHR curfews??).

QF33 PER return and earlier resumption from PER with a replacement crew. Perhaps only had one replacement crew available / able to get to PER so SIN diversion a better option for the second flight?

QF9 was further delayed only now departing SIN at 1pm. Hopefully a quick turnaround can get it out of LHR before curfew.

And it looks that since yesterday, Doha is operating more or less as per usual so fingers crossed!
<redacted> I’m pretty hopeful that that’s the end of the hot war and the interruptions to flights will stop. Obviously still the Iran Israel corridor would be well out of bounds.

But worth crossing my fingers for my QR flights next Sunday. 😊

I have noticed Iran Air is avoiding UAE/Qatar Airspace and no flights on EK through Iran as well but Fly Dubai is going through Iran...

Small personal data point. Seat Friend was booked to return to CBR from LHR on QF 10 yesterday. It has been delayed by 22hr and is now scheduled for departure at 0900 local today - I know this as I am on airport pick up duties.

They were all given GBP100 towards costs. She was in J so I don’t know if everyone got the same amount or if there was some sort of sliding scale. Her credit card insurers (ANZ and NAB) have declined responsibility, saying the delay was as a result of war like actions.

Did they put her up in a hotel as well? If not £100 would barely touch the sides..

So for exactly the type of situation you would want insurance... They carve it out.

Super

Under UK261 I thought the airline has a duty of care to provide meals and accommodation in this instance, as it is a flight departing UK. As the reason is beyond the airline's control, then no monetary compensation for the delay would be due (understandable), but the duty of care obligation AFAIK does not have carve outs.

It was just a flat GBP. No accommodation or meals.

This is a very good point. I will mention it to her and get her to follow up.
