Velocity introduces Forever Gold lifetime status tier

Very minimal beyond members.
Very minimal WP+ members.
Why not merge them.... Still very few member.

Less WP members.
Less SG members.

It's like asking why QF don't merge CL and P1.

Same thing really. Each tier is catered to a different target group.
Completely different. C o m p l e t e l y .

There's a heap more QF WP members than VA WP members.

There's a heap more QF CL members than VA Beyond members.

Same thing how ?

Merging a much smaller group is easy.

Merging a larger group not so easy.

Well, in both cases one is “earned” and one is gifted. The later on the premise that their organisation is a big contributor to the payers and status earners.

This status restructure just makes less and less sense.
it's rewarding flyers like me who book for work requirements with very little notice and pay the premium prices.
Last week I had a MEL-SYD-MEL trip which netted me 66 SC's for $792 which would have been only 30 SC's before the change. I managed to get the trip DSC credited too, so it's a nice boost to my VA metal count this year for only 3 hours of flying.

I totally agree and also unfair for those of us who earned a lot of SCs prior to 2013! They should have given everyone who was a member prior something - maybe 1000 SCs added to the Lifetime total for all long term members.

Yes, seeing it is clearly the case they DO have access to this data, they are pretty dumb not to make some allowances. To say they do not have the data is just a CROCK.

Junior partner should have asked Big Brother UNITED what THEY did. They combined ALL flights made on both Continental AND United when setting Lifetime Gold status on United. Both totally separate animals at the time.

Throwing a bone to ~15 year loyal members makes perfect sense to any program with half a brain. Start 2025 with ironclad rules. For past loyal flyers - get real.

Dropping the loopy '9000 SC' on Virgin is just basic common sense -- 50% or 75% makes it more sensible, especially to long time flyers. The 12,000 SC seems about right. It is only Lifetime GOLD they are handing out there - not Platinum Plus!

Their bookings are clearly suffering, and interest in the once awaited DSC program has crashed 30% over last year as AFF's figures show -

I hope you enjoy your employer's largesse in your retirement.

I finally got around to checking this - no hurry required, as I knew I wasn't in for a pleasant surprise.

I need 5454 of the 12k, and 4356 of the VA 9k. I thought I'd be a little closer than that - maybe we've been caught out with some of the family pooling as well. Like others, we've used this tactically at different times. But I've also been a member for 14 years, and WP for (maybe) half that time.

Anyway, I won;t be pursuing Forever Gold. I drop to SG next month, and from mid-2026 my lounge access will be with my Amex Platinum, or J fares if they're particularly good value.

My wife is a mere 304 status credits away from FEG.
We decided to spend the weekend in Cairns so booked J return on double SCS and I will pool to her.
I calculated it will deliver 316 SCs so that's her sorted for both WP & FEG as well as giving her a Partner Gold to give away.
Those who complain about this program aren't using it properly.

If she already has the total 12K required, won't the SCs pooled from you will be wasted to the extent they are not counted towards the VA marketed flights?
(Unless they are used towards her WP)

Unfortunately you've interpreted the new earning rules wrong, your VA flights that are pooled to her won't count towards the 9,000 out of 12,000 VA SC required (hers obviously will).

Incredibly patronising and condescending - and yet you don't understand the new rules yourself.

You do realise that family pooling doesn't count towards Lifetime Gold?

So, unless she's getting the 304 herself from these flights, she'll still be short of the LG target. Based on the info you've provided, she'll have to fork out another $1800+ at a minimum to reach that goal.

Except it does count towards her WP AND her partner gold.....
so there's that.
As I have repeatedly said, there's no use for FEG if you are Plat or Plat +.
And her upcoming trip in late July to LHR, booked in J via VA1 on QR metal with 50% bonus SCs will certainly count and probably push her over the line for Plat+.

That is the right answer for almost every problem.
