Current Qantas First Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

I’m really enjoying the stand alone coughtail menu that’s no longer linked with meal times. Whilst small it’s still a lot more than the 3-6 choices you had before.

I’ve got to say, as someone who spent a week in Havana and knows my way around a mojito, the Flounge makes a banging mojito!

The rescued blueberries is another level of menu description 😂

Vegetarian options aren’t great, worse if you’re a vegan. I know those with dietary requirements are the vermin of earth but if you’re laying out $10K for a first class flight, it would be good for some other options than salad or cold food dishes, when the meat eaters get brisket.

Come one, the mixed leaves with Neil’s vinaigrette is the pinnacle of culinary excellence, personally designed by Chef Neil Perry AM

Squid, duck, brisket. I had high hopes for the duck after sudoers praise, but it wasn’t great. Overcooked and looked like it had just been slapped on the plate. Brisket was beautifully tender and tasty, only downside was a little too much fat.

A couple of Bees Knees spritzes to celebrate World Bee Day.

Yeah, that duck looks like it was on the way to cremation. It should be pink and I’ve had really nice serves also. I probably would have sent that back.

Currently in the PVG CX lounge and they have beautiful looking and tasting smoked duck breast with black pepper sitting in a self serve buffet.

Is the F Lounge due a seasonal menu change? Travelling on 3 June and wondering if there will be a new Winter menu by then.
That could be cutting it fine, you may, you may not. It would just be luck when it's that close to the start of the season.
Or you may have a partial new menu - only a few dishes available.

Today’s menu… slight change to that previously posted

Crispy duck was very nice

IMG_4378.jpeg

S&P squid up to the usual SYD standard (although it had been attacked prior to taking a photo)

IMG_4379.jpeg

Gua bao was ok…

IMG_4380.jpeg

DejaBrew+1 enjoyed the pappardelle

IMG_4382.jpeg

My snapper was beautifully cooked

DejaBrew+1 ordered “Neil’s Leaves” (against recommendation), and ended up sending back a rather dodgy looking effort that was served up. We had 2 separate staff come up to apologise and advise it was below their expected standards, and offer an alternative dish. The prize was an off-menu sashimi offering.

Nice gesture, but dish could have done without the peanut satay underneath.

Staff subsequently came out with an unannounced special serve of the ginger cake.

IMG_4390.jpeg

I’d already ordered a pav and chocolate fudge cake (as I couldn’t decide) 🤣

All washed down with Shiso Sours (which were very nice!!)

MEL All Day Dining winter menu. Commenced 3rd June
Enjoyed the prawn, tomato & celeriac remoulade stacked on the brioche (left the brioche untouched). Next time I will asked for the dish doubled sans the brioche. The lamb shoulder (could have done with a little more of the balsamic & rosemary sauce) was nice and tender. The honey glazed root veg were fortunately not sweet.
No pics of the food. They were just standard NP presentation.

Oops just realised we're posting in the wrong thread. Hope the moderators will move us over to the 1st lounge thread rather than this 1st class menu thread. Soooory.
