The Master SQ Guide (Krisflyer, Waitlists & Waitlists Clearing)

Thinking that a thread with the words “Master SQ Guide” in the title may be the appropriate one for this question.

Possibly very simple but will ask anyway. Does anyone know how to get my Velocity number in a redemption booking made through my KF account? When I get to the FF number section it has my KF number auto-populated with no ability to change. Reason I want this is lounge access by way of VA gold status while unfortunately travelling in Y.
I believe you have to do this over the phone.

I have had a KF number attached to an SQ flight and wanted the additional baggage allowance due to being a VA platinum, I just showed my membership upon checking and the allowance was granted, I would assume this works the same for lounge access?

I think there are reports on this thread (or elsewhere in the forum), of people changing FF programs and numbers at check in.

SQ allows attaching one FF number for mileage accrual, and another number for status benefits. You can do this at check-in or call them.

I am looking into a future long-haul trip; in a few weeks, the booking calendar will start to open for the relevant dates. My daughter has indicated some interest in coming with me, but it's possible she will decide later not to come.

If I make an award booking for two people, but in the end she wants to cancel, can I cancel one passenger while keeping the booking intact? Or would I have to cancel in full then hope the space for a single pax becomes available again?

(I will be posting similar questions across several programs I might use.)

You might be posting similar questions across several programmes, but I do not know of any FF programme where you cannot do this. Give them a call, ask to cancel the ticket of one of the passengers but keep the rest of the booking intact. I have done this quite a few times for various reasons and it's never been an issue.

For this type of issue the airlines first split the booking into two bookings. A new booking reference is created for one booking, while the original booking is then just for one passenger.

For me, I first instruct the agent to split the bookings and then call back and reference only the booking I want to change..

hi everyone, I know this is a basic basic question, given ive booked 3 times in the past using miles

I was just looking at some flights in September, I chose 2 adults, chose an unwaitlisted flight, went to book and then it said "you have been waitlisted"

I called up, and tried to get a straight answer, my god it was like talking to a robot
she repeated about 10 times in a row, "you will receive an email for your confirmation no later than 2 weeks before the flight"

i tried asking, how long does it take, I tried asking, so the latest is 2 weeks before the flight, I tried asking, is exactly 2 weeks before the flight

so confirming that , im at the mercy of this waitlist until up to 2 weeks before my actual flight, so if doesn't clear, then i'll have to buy last minute cash flights?

In short yes. The vast majority of waitlisted flights don't clear so you shouldn't rely on it IMO.

Assuming it was a J/F award, you could book Y/W seats on the same flight and be prepared to cancel those if your J/F waitlist clears.

thanks for the confirmation, thats exactly what I was thinking, I think ive only been on waitlist 2 x times, and one didnt clear, and one cleared in days,

im also using near expiring miles so all these waitlisting/cancellations arent going to work

i find it amazing how people can plan trips being on waitlist, except if you can do the whole book 2 flights strategy!

oh my god, just recieved an email saying "your flights are ready for confirmation"

am I missing something? in 1.5 hours
I'd suggest one of two things happened:
  1. the availability was low on the flight and someone else was looking at booking it, went through the process holding the last award from inventory, but not completing the booking. Some time later the hold dropped out and the award was release back into the wild.
  2. an automated process runs regularly reviewing sales for a flight to evaluate / revise loadings. In this case more awards were made available.
In either case, another automated process to review waitlists paired yours with the now existent availability.

Still, I agree with @sudoer ... lucky.

Nope, lucky you.

Excellent, we are very happy, still another leg to buy however, im still going to go with the "waitlists never clear" mentality going fwd

in other news, im just randomly looking at J/F long haul to europe a year in advance, and it appears saver is not even listed any more, Its supposedto say "saver waitlisted" column

does this mean its never offered?

I don't search EU routes frequently enough to say with confidence, but I've noticed that generally SQ releases Advantage inventory a full year out and then usually opens up some J Savers a couple of weeks later. But it's route dependent and they do use married segments from what I've seen - for example, SYD-SIN may not show J Savers, but SYD-SIN-FRA might.

F savers ex SYD/MEL are very rare these days except on certain routes (SYD-SIN-CGK is the one I've seen most often) or apparently if you hold PPS Solitaire.

I did F saver mel to london last year one way, had to be super flexible

Edit: i just had a look from 1st march 26 to 3 june 26
There is no mention of saver on any of them
And about 12 days w advantage for 282k miles one way F thst are available, wow thats poor value......
Does this mean saver are no longer offered?
