Why doctor photos of rental listings?

Inspected a 1 bedroom apartment in Toowong near where we are staying. Old style building but the photos showed a completely renovated interior. So off we went to inspect.

Very dated. Very dull. Bad smell. Kitchen and living room together very small and even smaller bedroom. Nothing inside looked like it was from 21st century. Garage on the small(ish) side. They're asking $525/week. LOL. Wife's friend is staying in 2 bedroom apartment with garage about 100 metres away and they are paying $520/week.

P.S. This is not the only one. Another in Indooroopilly had photos that were not even of that apartment. Totally different to what I inspected. Really sad they resort to these sorts of tactics.

WCMO is when hotels do exactly what you describe. Obviously they were using the photos from when the hotel was new, if even that. I found this was quite something when I was looking at accommodation in India.

Usually if there is no photo of the bathroom, I don't book it.

LOL. One of rental listings showed the living room the size of a really big hall. Another showed photos of both bedrooms showing only one corner of each bedroom.

They say if you find something half decent try and take it. Found one in Auchenflower. $450/week, looks like no one has taken it or they've rejected applicants, living room ok but not big, 2 bedrooms on smallish side, large balcony, kitchen OK and suitable for us doing a lot of cooking but no hood, separate toilet and bathroom, laundry inside, garage, 9 units on 3 levels with a lift.

Why am I hesitating?

The Trivago ads have made these pages numerous times, so no use regurgitating old comments, but interesting on my last trip, it's wall-to-wall repeat of their current Aus-played ad. Just back from US/Canada and turned the TV on over there and it's the same ad but funny, different room prices; USA $155, Canada $200 and Aus $250. Identical ads, don't seem to be retakes, so probably AI-induced for the various prices. There are some slight variations like here in Aus, but they are being constantly run in both countries.
They must have a massive global advertising budget, and are still as annoying as ever.

And why is the room info on IHG and Accor official pages often vague about whether its a walk-in shower or shower over bath, forcing you to go to aggregator or review sites to find out what is actually in the room.

Going via Trivago to Agoda, Expedia, Priceline etc can have some nice discounts for Pattaya hotels.
