Vinomofo Wine Deals

Not sure when they changed the rules to disallow barrel samples, 15-20 years ago I think.

Interesting rundown here, including noting one scandal.

Great read. Thanks.

Yes, I'd previously bought the BB and enjoyed it too.
Not so much the Thistledown Where Eagles Dare Shiraz 2021, the bottle we had started Ok then was ruined by a long streak of sharp acid dominating the mid-to-finish.
I had a very similar experience with the where eagles dare. I only bought 3 from twc, do you think it will chill out and get better with age?

I only bought the one to try from TWC in a mixed order. In my experience out of balance acid seldom sorts itself out with age, although sometimes other changes in the wine may make it less distracting. For fun google something like "acid in wine changes over time", this is the first part of the "AI Overview":
Yes, the acidity in wine does change over time during the aging process, although the total measurable amount of acidity remains relatively constant. The perception of acidity, however, can change due to various factors, including the formation of esters, changes in tannins and phenolics, and the conversion of acids.

Also in the results: How does bottle aging affect the acidity of wine?

The type of food the wine is consumed with can also affect the perception of acid. My tasting was with cheese/biscuits and then moderately spicy Thai food, didn't work with those.

We often drink Shiraz with spicy Thai food, many Aus Shiraz do work well for us. In fact tonight we will be drinking a 13 yo Mitolo Shiraz with a gum-searing Kua Kling Moo (Southern Thai dry-fried pork mince with special turmeric-rich paste smothered in finely shredded makrut leaves).

Your address, please, redbigot? - I'll be over in a flash with some exceptional wines to share with you - and your food! :)

Appreciate you taking the time to respond and pointing me in the right direction for further research! Still figuring these things out :)

$30 at Winestar Mystery BR214 Premium Barossa Valley Shiraz 2021 - Mystery Wine
$172.80/6 at Skye Skye Cellars
It's a decent buy for $30.

I bought 2019 Three Springs and tried one. I thought that it was very good. But haven't tried 2021. I think 2021 is probably made by CW Wines.
I got the '21 three springs (thinking I was getting something else) and was tempted to return it - and would have, if not for my wife's love for bold, overly ripe, overly oaked shiraz. If you love that old barossa shiraz with hyper ripe fruits and lots of oak character, that's what you're getting here. Not for me.

You got the good batch then!
A couple of mentions from my place:
Opened a 2021 Schild Three Springs Shiraz last night.
Ridiculous bottle, decanted maybe 2 hours. Hmmm, this wasn't doing much at all and was very disappointing. Thin, lacking depth and the flavour/palate wasn't that great. The Good Wife even asked if I had kept it too long and it was past it before realising that it was 2021 vintage.

Schild Three Springs Barossa Shiraz $180 14.5% 2021 Winestar $30.00 - less compelling than the 2019, fruit Ok, but a little linear and not outstanding, restrained oak and fresh acid finish. Group #6.

Where did you get yours 2021s? Sounds like exactly what I would enjoy 😄

I also felt the same way about the '21 I bought from Skye cellars, found it very average and lacking complexity for the price.

I hope my experience is different, coz bought 2 x 6 packs from Skye. Schild sale to CW wines April 2023, so the 3 Springs juice would've been in barrel for 2 years by then, possibly already assembled, more likely this inventory was used by Ben Wurst to make '21 3 Springs, some time after the sale. Incidentally the viticulturists & grapes are still Schilds, after the sale. I usually wouldn't taste such a big wine until 2026 or later, but reading Redbigot maybe should try this one sooner : However I'd be surprised if Skye has a returns policy as generous & easy as mof_ - which, incidentally I've used more in recent months, than I had at the time of an earlier conversation about return rates, on this forum.

Any feedback on the 21 The Blend? Ive been staring at it for weeks in the cart.
