Since we've been picking on Ron Brown of Maverick for his pricing, because evidently his top wines are not in a league befitting such $ (while not noticing that Rockford, Dave Powell, Chris Ringland & others have never been coy about asking big $, and why should they be, in a free market? We don't have to buy, & it's a bit like art ie "what you can get away with"). Anyway, to be fair, these Maverick wines are well and carefully made, from some of the best Barossa grapes available, and have been consistently rated by professionals and gifted amateurs alike. Eg an Ahrens Ancestor Shiraz was in the lineup of Halliday's top shiraz 2024, where it looks a bit cheap against Ringland Hoffman or Torbreck's Laird (I'm kidding. I'd never pay $800 for a wine & the winner was about $50, interestingly). I say this having no reason to promote Maverick, no agenda, and no idea (yet) whether I will even like the Ahrens 2021 at all. I may not, and the price won't determine that, either.
And I will add that - despite having mentioned Wine Companion et al above - I'm very sceptical about ratings of wine : several of my all time favourites are unrated & ignored by the experts.
