We will be visiting Vanuatu for the first time in June. Our daughter in-law, volunteered there for many years, but hasn't been back for over 5 years (young family now). She still has friends there and says the local people are kind and beautiful.

So it will be an interesting visit for us.

I have been to Vanuatu multiple times and it is one of my happy places, along with Nepal and wherever my grandchildren are. The lovely Ni-Van people are the country’s wealth, along with the natural beauty. Sadly I expect the cut to U.S. aid will impact this country and open the door further to unscrupulous involvement of less charitable benefactors.

Like others, I have a trip booked shortly. Given Air Vanuatu is at risk of completely crashing at any time (no way to make online bookings, flights often cancelled) it's kind of difficult to know what to plan. The advice is get off the main island but that's hard to do, then you have the risk of flights or ferries being cancelled and not making it back to VLI in time for the flight out!
