I flew Mel Syd today on QF414 in an A330-200 with an "international" cabin - Business Class pods, in seat economy class screens with VOD. Was this aircraft standard on this route or a one-off?

A small number of domestic MEL-SYD flights are scheduled international config A332 and 333 I assume they are repositioning the aircraft and getting revenue at the same time. I don't know if it's the same every week.

I was on (a very delayed) QF546 SYD-BNE on Thursday and just as we were waiting to disembark, an A330 pulled up to the gate next to us.

I looked at flightstats and BNE arrivals pages, but couldn't find a domestic flight that was supposedly using an A330.

Can anyone satisfy my curiosity?

As far as I can tell, no QF 332/333 operated any domestic flight to.from BNE on Th 12 November.

I couldn't find anything either serfty!

It took me a bit by surprise, I was stood there in 27A on a 763, when something larger than your average 737 or 767 loomed large in my window. Had a look, and there was an A330 complete with red rat on the tail to the left of us (I think we docked at gate 20 from memory).
It certainly said A330 on the fuselage above the wing, but I'm not an expert so I can't tell the difference between the -200 and -300 from a glance.

Bit of a puzzle!

I recently did a MEL-SYD-MEL Daytrip.
A330/200 A330/300.
Picked the 9.30am / 7pm flights because of this.
Took a bit of fishing though.
It was worth it.

Some of my sources are not publicly available - I am still drawing zip.

I'll keep checking but it may have been one of those new 330's (ISTR Qantas are getting some) doing shakedowns.

I remember it had Q and P in it's tail number (and thinking that was appropriate) and that there was a fair bit of movement as people prepared to disembark. So not empty, or a repositioning I would have thought.

VH-QPx would be one of the A330-300's, so an intenational config.

Do we know what happened to the one PER-SYD early monday mornings Serfty?

A question of luck one would say ...
More like rescheduling obviated the need for as many transcontinental positioning flights for these internationally configured aircraft.
