Just saw article on Executive Traveller that SQ is closing their SYD lounge from Aug 10 for a refurbishment. Should re-open at end of the month or early next month and all eligible pax are bring redirected to the NZ Lounge. What happens to VA status holders in this situation? I'm assuming VA status holders should also be able to enter the NZ Lounge under this arrangement but the article only mentions SQ status holders and Star Alliance elites.

I believe in London they didn't offer an alternative for VA FFs while their Heathrow lounge was being refurbished but hopefully they will here, given the larger market.

I'd be really annoyed if I didn't get lounge access. I've got a flight with them at the end of next week. Hopefully, there's some clarification about lounge access for VA elites.

The Executive Traveller article has now been updated to include VA elites in the eligibility for the NZ Lounge if travelling on SQ whilst the SilverKris Lounge is closed.

Just in the lounge now. Nothing to get too excited about. Seems to be new carpet, same chairs with new upholstery and a new coffee station with a barista who needed to be called over. Buffet is the same, bathrooms haven’t been redone. Feels a little fresher but largely more of the same.

Photos?

I'll be there tomorrow morning so I'll try to get some photos.

Honestly don’t think I would have noticed other than the barista station. Nice enough, but I can see how it was such a quick update.

Lovely and relaxed after the SQ flight cleared out, then moseyed over to NZ for a coffee. Both nice options as usual especially depending on crowd levels, but I don’t think the update particularly moves the needle much.

Oh. I forgot to add: having had a full breakfast in both lounges, SQ makes better scrambled eggs. NZ obviously wins on coffee (and yogurt).

I skipped dinner this evening.
