A ute driven by a security contractor has crashed into a Jetstar passenger aircraft on the tarmac at Sydney Airport, trapping the driver and forcing the plane to be pulled from service.

The crash happened about 5.30am on Monday while the A320 was being towed to an airport gate at the domestic terminal ahead of passengers being loaded onto the aircraft.

It’s quite amazing what drivers on airports fail to see. I’ve had them cut off the 380 a number of times.

It would be interesting to know how far back into the aircraft the engineers will have to go to look for damage. I’d expect that the pylon and attachment points will need to be looked at.

And that reminds me of a tale. Apparently, there was a tractor driver who had discovered that he could drive under the engines of the 747, and he’d taken to doing so, presumably as a cough magnifying exercise. Worked well until one day he showed off his little trick under a brand new 747ER. Sadly they had different engines. That was a medical event too, but not for long.

I’m presuming that it was the driver who had the medical incident (but before he drove into it, or anfter?) and by accident drove into the engine (propeller ). Well that’s his story to save more embarrassment. Hopefully his story checks out
